2021 PGA Championship Apparel Scripts

Who’s Wearing What at Kiawah

From the infamous War by the Shore to Rory’s runaway victory nine years ago, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island has provided plenty of drama over the years.

With the top players rolling into the Low Country, apparel brands are outfitting their guys in their best, brightest, and boldest threads for the summer ahead. Playing into traditional summer style, many brands are working seersucker into everything, including shoes. Crisp greens, soft oranges, and brilliant blues will be the colors of choice, while fun summer prints and intricate patterns will abound.

Here is a look at the apparel selections for the game’s top players. Scripts are listed in order of world ranking. Dustin Johnson has the tee.

Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)

A mix of athletic and casual silhouettes. The Adidas WARPKNIT Cargo Pant is a new one for DJ and provides a casual, yet sleek look. Showing the brand’s commitment to sustainability, Adidas will also outfit DJ in the Go-To 5 Pocket Pant that’s made with recycled materials. Sunday is a familiar kit with the navy 5-pocket pants and matching Go-To Pique Polo (also made with recycled materials).

Favorite fit: Sunday

Xander Schauffle (Adidas Golf)

Look for Xander to sport Adidas’ Go-To 5 Pocket Pant and the Go-To Polo, both made with recycled materials. He’ll sprinkle in some subtle prints with the Ultimate365 Printed Polo on Saturday. Will he capture his first major in a traditional look of the athletic PRIMEKNIT polo and Ultimate365 Classic pant?

Favorite fit: Saturday

Collin Morikawa (Adidas Golf)

Love the mint green and navy combo! Morikawa looks to channel some winning ‘vibes’ at Kiawah in the Vibes Print Polo. Unique prints will be a theme for the rest of the week, starting with the Ultimate365 Printed Polo on Thursday and the subtle Camo Polo on Friday.

Favorite look: Sunday

Viktor Hovland (J.Lindeberg Golf)

Simple solids and tonal prints offer clean and modern looks. Iconic Slater Belts on Thursday and Saturday make me feel nostalgic.

Favorite look: Saturday

Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren)

High on style for the Low Country. Classic stripes meet modern diamond and foulard prints in these contemporary preppy looks. I’m not sure if the weather will be cool enough for it to make an appearance, but Sunday’s Primaloft Fleece Hybrid Vest is the showstopper of this script.

Favorite fit: Sunday

Lee Westwood (Peter Millar)

A new look for Westwood is the special make gale grey camouflage trousers made from the same fabrication as Peter Millar’s Shackleford Short. This short is a must-have for a summer weekend as it effortlessly doubles as a golf short for a morning round or swim trunks for an afternoon by the pool. While you can’t get Lee’s trouser version of the Shackleford, you can slip on the shorts in the camo print. Btw, Sunday’s kit with cool blues is major championship-worthy.

Favorite fit: Sunday

Harris English (Peter Millar)

There is still room on the fairways for cotton, especially a cotton-performance micro pique with four-way stretch and moisture-wicking qualities. English will pair the Peter Millar’s Ace Cotton-Blend Pique Polo on Sunday with the brand’s Stealth Performance Trousers in Lunar Blue. This entire script brings a modern, well-tailored approach to performance apparel.

Favorite fit: Saturday

Cameron Smith (Original Penguin)

Vacation vibes, whimsical prints, and summer hues. If this doesn’t get you ready for beach season, I don’t know what will.

Favorite fit: Saturday

Marc Leishman (Kjus)

Classic looks loaded with high-tech performance. This color palette will play well on the sandy shores of South Carolina.

Favorite fit: Friday

Christiaan Bezuidenhout (Fairway & Greene)

Classic diamond and hound prints offer subtle and sophisticated textures. Saturday’s waterski print is as whimsical as it is summery.

Favorite fit: Thursday

Kevin Kisner (Peter Millar)

Minty fresh! The special make Moroccan Mint Pant on Saturday is as cool as a mojito, but it is the Johnny Collar Polo that will have people talking. I can’t remember the last time a saw a Johnny collar on the course! This Crown Crafted version from Peter Millar utilizes a distinct high V placket for a modern look and will take your polo game to another level–on or off the course.

Favorite fit: Saturday

Matt Wallace (J.Lindeberg Golf)

Summer-tyme. Garden-fresh greens mixed with crisp whites. Friday’s Golf Club Belt is another iconic blast from JL’s past.

Favorite look: Thursday

Carlos Ortiz (Greyson Clothiers)

Ortiz always keeps it clean and classic, and this week is no exception. The mix of traditional stripes and easy solids showcases the spectrum of blues in Greyson’s latest collection.

Favorite fit: Saturday

Cameron Tringale (Greyson Clothiers)

Speaking of Greyson’s Summer Collection, it just arrived this week and it is coming in hot. Inspired by Michigan summers, the collection is filled with lake-inspired hues, intricate prints, and bold graphics. None bolder than the Sacred Eagle Polo, which represents the powerful connection between man, spirit, and nature.

Favorite fit: Saturday

Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers)

EVR gets plenty of attention for his signature joggers, but this week he’ll be making waves with his range of polos. Thursday’s Lake Curiosities Polo features a detailed all-over pattern of wolves living in harmony. Sunday’s electric Petoskey Polo pays homage to the rare Petosky stone, which is only found in Michigan. Formed by glaciers, the stone is said to possess the power to connect with spirits, heal the body, and bring good luck. Sounds like the perfect choice for the final round of a major.

Favorite fit: Thursday

Harold Varner III (Jordan Brand)

Let’s be honest; we’re just looking at and drooling over the shoes. Fresh Jordan 4’s for HV3. Alternating between the Jordan 4 G in the pink seersucker NRG colorway and the white cement. While Nike hints at Kentucky Derby fashions as being the inspiration behind its latest NRG drop, the southern sophistication of the timeless seersucker upper certainly plays well on the shores of South Carolina.

Chez Reavie (Peter Millar)

These blues will look brilliant on the shores of the Atlantic.

Favorite fit: Friday

Zach Johnson (Kjus)

Cool and classic with a mix of solids and stripes.

Favorite fit: Thursday

  1. very excited to see J.Lindberg looks on the course. More muted earthy colors should fit VH well. The adidas stuff looks great untl you see its the no-collar collar which just flat looks unfinished and DJ wore it awkwardly yesterday.
