This Week In Golf Fashion: Valspar Championship

Fun florals, bold botanicals, dancing bears and more. Tour Editor Michael Ruuska recaps the fashion scene from the most colorful tournament on Tour.

One of the biggest golf fashion stories of the week was the release of the TrendyGolf x J.Lindeberg Palm Capsule. This collection brings together playful summer palm prints and J.Lindeberg’s best-selling technical Tour Tech polo shirt. Exclusively available at TrendyGolf.com, we anticipate this collection will sell out quickly.

If the aforementioned was the story of the week, Justin Thomas’ apparel free-agency has been the story of the year! JT continues to captivate with his play and fashion prowess. Greyson Clothiers have received most of the attention for their polos but Justin’s pants and shorts of choice lately have been Kjus’ Ike. He’s also deftly mixed in Kjus outerwear when the weather requires layering.

Keeping with the Kjus love while I am at it; I see your D-Ring Stripe Web Belt, Zach Johnson. And I raise you the Kjus “black-steel-grey” Webbing Belt.

Not to be left out, Wesley Bryan is bringing the Smathers & Branson Dancing Bears Needlepoint Belt to the table. The stakes are getting high now (no pun intended).

Patrick Rodgers (Oakley & Nike)

Oakley has quietly stepped up their golf apparel this season. The all-over-microprint on this Oakley Hexad TN Polo is really nice. The pants are part of the Oakley Skull Collection, a golf specific assortment only available in Japan.

Did you know it is estimated that there are about 10,000 stars visible to the human eye across the entire sky (both hemispheres)? The G/FORE Gradient Dots Polo is a star. It brings a clear and moonless night far away from the city lights to the golf course.

Denny McCarthy (Dunning & Nike)

Blue looks good on you, Denny. The Dunning Corveen Coolmax Shirt with the Heathered 5-Pocket Pant is a winning combination that will keep you cool (literally and figuratively).

Matthew NeSmith (Vineyard Vines & Adidas)

Congratulations to Medina Spirit for winning the “Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports” on Saturday. No other U.S. sporting event celebrates fashion quite like the Kentucky Derby. It should come as no surprise that Vineyard Vines has become the official style of the Kentucky Derby. Vineyard Vines brings a very similar opulent style to their golf collection.

Sam Burns (Adidas Golf)

Keeping with champions, kudos to Sam Burns on his win at the Valspar Championship. His play was almost as impressive as this adidas Vibes Print Polo Shirt.

  1. Hovland is not a Loud clothes guy but is being dressed that way and it doesnt seem to be working. Very awkward

    1. I completely agree, Jim. Though the shirt is awesome!! Curious, what brand(s) do you think Viktor would look best in?

      1. I think the Hov would look best in a less “fashiony” label like JL, G/Fore, RLX, etc. A more “sporty” label like Descente, Lacoste or even Nike would be a more comfortable fit.

  2. I like the Lacoste suggestion but he’d need to replace his Nike sneakers. Overall, Nike might be a good pairing.
