I don’t consider myself a Parrot Head. In fact, my preferred genre of music can’t be further removed from Jimmy Buffet’s folksy beach tunes. Give me some old-school Public Enemy or Wu-Tang Clan, or even some modern day Kendrick Lamar or A$AP Rocky and I’m good to go.

That being said, after watching The Open Championship with a leaderboard full of dudes wearing the same blade color polos and tech chinos, I can’t seem to get Buffet’s “Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes” lyrics out of my head. After the Sea of Similarity we witnessed in Scotland, I’m looking to wear something different, something unique. Not surprisingly, this change in attitude has led me to Bunker Mentality’s latest collection.

The brand from Nottingham, England is once again defying the golf fashion status quo with unapologetically bold designs. For 2018, Bunker Mentality’s collection features an inspiring mix of fashion-forward looks and fresh designs. As always, color plays a big part in this Bunker Mentality collection. Navy blue and black create a dark backdrop for a color palette laced with hot pinks, vibrant blues, racy reds, earthy oranges, and bright yellows. The assortment of daring prints, wide stripes, sporty color-blocked designs, and simple solids offers something for everyone.
Bunker Mentality Polos
Three shirts in the collection, the Floral Tech, Paisley Tech, and Bold Stripe polos, epitomize Bunker Mentality’s brash, yet sophisticated approach. All three take a strong trend in the menswear scene and turn it up to eleven.
Floral Tech Polo
Small floral prints have been all the rage over the past few years and the Floral Tech Polo plays into this movement. The unique all-over pattern is comprised of flowers in five colors and various sizes. The long six-button placket offers a retro mod vibe that is part golf, part rock ‘n roll. This shirt is worthy to walk down any runway, or fairway, for that matter.
Paisley Tech Polo
Speaking of iconic mod styles, paisley prints were a cornerstone of the mod culture in the ‘60s before going mainstream in the ‘80s. Sneak a peek in your dad’s closet and you’ll likely find a paisley tie from the Ronald Reagan era. Although paisley patterns have been making a comeback recently in menswear, Bunker Mentality is one of the few brands bringing it to the course. At a distance, the tonal nature of the pattern on the Paisley Tech Polo is soft and subtle. Up close, though, it possesses an unmistakable swagger as hits of pink and yellow weave their way through the pattern. Tipping on the collar and banded sleeves brings a touch of Golden Era flavor to this adventurous polo. Plus, a single pink button on the contemporary four-button placket helps to tie the design together.
Bold Stripe Polo
For those preferring stripes over prints, the Bold Stripe Polo is a must-have. The wide and colorful chest stripes create an aggressive look that is perfect for a club championship run. The thin engineered stripes across the shoulders and torso help to balance those vibrant stripes. Again, a tipped collar, ribbed cuffs, and a shortened placket offer a blend of classic and contemporary elements.
Stylish Details; Oder-Free Technology
All three shirts are completed with elevated details. Blue and pink trim around the inner collar and hem along with silicone branding elements showcase Bunker Mentality’s fusion of modern sport and elegance.

Carried over from the 2017 Collection is the Polygiene Odor Technology. Have you ever noticed technical fabrics become a bit funky after a few rounds in hot and humid conditions—even when laundered properly? Unfortunately, when sweat mixes with textiles, bacteria begin to grow, which leads to an odor that only gets worse over time. Bunker Mentality’s CMAX fabric has always excelled at wicking sweat and providing great stretch, but Polygiene actually helps to prevent the growth of this odor-causing bacteria. It’s safe to say that Bunker Mentality’s polos don’t stink, literally and figuratively.
Nino Tech Trouser
With so much swagger above the waist, Bunker Mentality’s trousers often play a supporting role. Overlooking them, though, would be a mistake. New to the mix in 2018 is the Nino Tech Trouser. While Bunker Mentality has favored pants fabricated from cotton blends in previous collections, the Nino is pure high-tech performance. Made from a Polyester/Elastane material, the Nino is as light as a feather and moves with you thanks to 360 degrees of stretch.
Like Bunker Mentality’s polos, the Nino features well-thought-out details. The 5-pocket chino style offers a slim, but relaxed fit from the hips to the ankles. A silicone strip on the inner waistband helps to keep your shirt tucked in for a neat and tidy look. Deep front and rear pockets are perfect for housing tees, ball markers, and scorecards. Plus, that blue and pink trim detail used on the polos is repeated on the right coin pocket and rear belt loop.
Bunker Mentality Belts
Accessories can make or break your outfit and Bunker Mentality’s range of belts can help you dial in your look. Braided belts are a huge trend on the fairways and Bunker Mentality has rolled out no less than three styles in colors that easily sync with the polos and pants in the brand’s collection. For a clean and understated vibe, the Stretch Braided Belt in navy or black is a smart choice. The Zig Zag Stretch Braided Belt features three colors of threads interwoven for a cool effect. In a similar vein, the Herringbone Stretch Braided Belt offers a colorful take on this classic pattern.
If you are looking to stand out from the crowd of clones, give Bunker Mentality a look this year.
