There is no shortage of limited edition Masters apparel and accessories right now. Everywhere you turn there are Augusta-inspired hats, bags, shirts, shoes, socks, etc.
Adidas Golf has taken this concept a step further by creating an entire limited edition Masters-inspired collection, and it is fresh to death. The Azalea Collection from the three-stripes brand features polos, t-shirts, socks, shoes and a hat with a vibrant pink azalea print. Props to Adidas for capturing one of the iconic symbols of Augusta and presenting it in a contemporary and fashionable way.
While some may question the concept of a men’s collection built around a pink floral print, I say this is the perfect time to do it. Prints, especially florals, are a strong trend this season in street wear, and they are starting to find a home on the fairways, too. Trendsetters in the game golf, like Ryo Ishikawa and Morgan Hoffman, have been rockin’ floral prints this year, and I look for others players, like Billy Horschel, to pick up on the trend, as well.
My only disappointment is that Adidas hasn’t scripted its players to wear pieces of the collection at the Masters. The polos and adipower BOOST shoes that are in the Azalea Collection are much more interesting than the scripts that the brand released for Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia. Rumor has it, though, that Adidas players may wear pieces from the Azalea Collection for the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday. Keep an eye out.
The Azalea Collection will be available on April 6th, just as the Masters hype machine is getting fired up. The line starts behind me, though.
