Puma Golf x Arnold Palmer Collection Blends The King’s Iconic Style
With Modern Technology and Comfort
A lot of news from Puma Golf over the last few days. On the heels (pun intended) of the IGNITE NXT Crafted footwear drop comes the release of the much-anticipated Puma Golf x Arnold Palmer Collection.
We first told you about this collection on the eve of the Arnold Palmer Invitational back in March. Puma hosted a “trunk show” at the event showcasing key pieces from the collection and fans were able to pre-order the gear. This was the last event completed on the PGA Tour before the world stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Fast forward three months. Golf is back, the Tour is back, and now the Puma x Arnold Palmer Collection has officially launched.
Fit for the King
Blending Mr. Palmer’s trademark cool with modern technologies and fabrics, the collection offers a complete range of tops, bottoms, headwear, and footwear that pays homage to golf’s global icon.
Drawing inspiration from the King’s ‘Life Well Played,’ the PUMA x Arnold Palmer collection delivers the classic styles that he wore during his career on and off the course, using a blend of modern and heritage materials authentic to Mr. Palmer’s style. The pieces celebrate the life and excellence of Mr. Palmer through nostalgic color palettes, storied prints, and personal detailing on every piece.
Sweaters
Although summer is upon us, the range of sweaters is the highlight of the collection. Cardigans were Palmer’s favorite layering pieces and he made them look cool on the fairways. The King’s Golf Cardigan is a tip of the cap to his love of the classic cardigan. Constructed with a premium alpaca and wool-blend fabric, this cardigan will help you channel your inner Arnie. You can grab the King’s Golf Cardigan in Pale Pink and Legion Blue colorways with preppy white piping around the neck and down the front.
If a classic v-neck is more your style, the Member’s Sweater is crafted from the same luxurious blend in Light Grey Heather and Iron Gate colorways.
Polos & Wovens
The range of polos features everything from iconic tipped, chest-pocket, and striped styles to a more modern all-over print. Each polo in the collection contains an internal neck print showcasing iconic moments (wedding, USCG service, flying his plane, and Major Championship wins) in Mr. Palmer’s life both on and off the course.
Complementing the polos is the Citation Woven Shirt with an all-over airplane print. As an amateur pilot, Mr. Palmer owned and flew several airplanes. The print details three of the most important planes to him.
Shorts
A similar print appears on the Cessna Short, which pays homage to the King’s favorite plane. The Cessna Short includes Palmer’s N1AP tail number repeating on the inside waistband. Finishing touches, like inside pocket elements with the three planes he owned and real shell buttons, showcase the attention to detail Puma put into the collection.
Headwear
Over the years, Puma has cranked out some dope headwear and the hats in the Puma x Arnold Palmer Collection certainly live up to that reputation. The rope hat with a leather strap and tonal umbrella logo patch is my favorite as it offers a contemporary take on an old school look.
Dad-style hats are making a strong comeback and the AP Umbrella Adjustable Cap with a leather patch and ditsy print is refined and on-trend. Rounding out the series of caps is a sporty snapback finished with an embroidered logo that will appeal to a wide range of players.
With Father’s Day just around the corner, sending Dad a couple of pieces from the collection will surely make you the favorite child.
