Outfit of the Week: Sheltering (or Not) In Style

For the lucky ones still playing golf and for the rest of us shelter shopping…

To quote GolfThreads Editor-in-Chief, Greg M., “Like most amateurs, I rarely hit the first tee in the same brand from head to toe, so the Outfits of the Week, (most times), offer a lesson in how to mix and match pieces from different brands and collections.”

True dat.

The ‘Fit

Polo: G-Fore Illusion Stripe Polo // Shorts: Dunning Heathered Short // Belt: Dunning Black Leather Belt // Shoes: True Linkswear TL-01 // Hoodie: Linksoul Variegated Stripe Hoodie // Socks: Stance

G/FORE Illusion Stripe Polo

Start on top with the G-Fore Illusion Stripe Polo ($115) – when we first saw this top in the recent spring catalog, it didn’t take long to hit send. The hand feel is so soft, silky and lightweight with its tech jersey that is breathable and easy care. Guarantee you will look and feel like a million bucks in this one.

The laguna or bright blue gives a classic grey or charcoal background the punch it needs to be fresh and modern for spring. You could easily do the same with a red, bright green or fuchsia accented top, for example, and ground the bright color with a basic like grey, black, white, tan or navy.

Dunning Heathered Short

Here we picked the Dunning Heathered Short ($79) in grey because it picks up the grey in the polo. This short is from a previous season and is one of the most worn golf bottoms in my household. The proprietary fabric engineering can be thanked for how nicely the shorts fit and drape, right out of the dresser drawer. Lightweight, breathable, stretch, moisture management – all performance features you need to stay comfortable with a clean design, plus comes in six color choices.

We kept it simple with a black leather Dunning belt – you definitely do not want to wear a woven belt with heathered fabrics which in this case is the shorts, as mentioned. It’s too much texture. Also, the stripes in the polo create enough visual variation, and in my opinion, something woven right below it starts to look too busy. Lmk if you’ve found a way to pull it off.

True Linkswear TL-01 Shoes

Can’t go wrong when your shoes match your belt. True Linkswear black leather TL-01 golf shoes ($149) have proved to be so versatile, I practically have to pry them off my husband’s feet. Lightweight, comfortable, trendy street-inspired aesthetic, the TL-01 also has a water and oil repellent upper, zero-drop cushion with EVA midsole, and a cross-life tread for maximum wearability.

Available in four colorways, it will quickly become your office to home to course to 19th hole fave shoe. (The True Knits in black or grey would also look great with this outfit)

Linksoul Hoodie

If you need an extra layer, we pulled out a previous season Linksoul variegated stripe grey hoodie that is an excellent transitional piece. This particular one is no longer available, but as you know hoodies are not difficult to find. Linksoul has a few on its site now that are 4-way stretch making the piece even more practical for golf. ($70 – $140)

There are not only great deals to be had out there right now, but it is abundantly obvious how important supporting retailers via online shopping is given the world’s current situation. If you can and you’re able, we know how much it means to them.

Stay safe.

  1. Please keep doing this. Putting together a kit is a skill and every time you drop one of these articles its great to see how different items pair together. Excellent work. What was the hat in the pic at the top?

    1. Thanks, Jim. We’ve been wondering if readers would still like fresh content with everything going on. Good to know you would like us to continue with these. It’s the motivation we need. The hat is from Streamsong. Janice and her husband played a few rounds there after the PGA Show in January. I’m jealous. Hope you are well.

  2. I was supposed to play Streamsong Red and Black Apr 2-4 but had to cancel due to the Virus. 3 buddies, couldn’t wait, wonderful chance to get away. Such a bummer to cancel but we are trying for October now. I will be buying that hat now knowing where it was from.
