What Is Black & White & Read All Over?
Did you realize that the newspaper riddle was one of the most popular conundrums of the 1920s?
Recently, I had a reader engage me in a debate about the merits of wearing white golf shoes with a predominately black outfit. I am a fan. He is not. I cherry-picked some examples from the Qatar Masters to make MY point. We love reader engagement. Please drop a line anytime, even if we agree to disagree.

I love Rory’s belt but he wears it with everything even when it doesn’t go. The pic above is fine from a distance but up close the pattern on the shirt clashes with the pattern on the belt. Like you always say, if a loud belt, go simple elsewhere.
I really enjoyed Rickie’s kit but I want him to play better!
Streelman is sneaky well dressed and under the radar but shouldn’t be.

White shoes with a black outfit I put in the same category as if the all black kit was paired with a white belt. I do think the white shoes could work if the white was the secondary color of the shoe. Rory’s Saturday kit where it was all black was terrific. If he would have paired it with white shoes it would have thrown off the entire flow. I’m all for the contrasting colors but where both the shirt and shorts are black I think adding white needs to be added in a subtle fashion (white lettering on a black hat, a white nike swoosh on a black shoes, or white trim on a collar).
