Mid-Summer Day Dream: Finish the Season in Style

Just like that, we are halfway through summer. (sigh)

Before we get swept away with the upcoming onslaught of fall fashion, here are some pieces we’re contemplating to get us through the season and to pack in our suitcases for late September/early October warm golf getaways.

Go for the Green

mid-summer out 1
Ted Baker microdot print shorts ($139) – There’s something about this green color that will brighten up an outfit but not too much. It’s very transitional, and the lightweight stretch cotton fabrication lets natural elements take care of any technical performance needs.

We’ve paired the shorts with Lululemon’s nautical navy Evolution polo, the Brideman Fleck woven belt by Royal Albartross that nicely ties the colors together, and True Linkswear’s Knit shoe in any of the three colors – off-white, navy or grey. (Note: Just make sure the belt doesn’t fight with the microdot print in the shorts.)

Berry Good

Swing Control Labyrinth Masters crop ($130) – A great length to wear transitioning seasons and any navy/white or black/white geometric pattern like this is a breeze to match with a variety of tops. The pants have a tummy control wrap around waistband for a secure feel and lots of swing flexibility.

We’re putting them with a couple different solid tops so we can go bold with our shoes. A simple, semi-fitted navy Caddy polo from Athleta, or white sleeveless Aloft snap-front polo with a mesh back yoke by Chase54. Can’t resist wearing G/FORE’s Brogue Gallivanter shoes in berry with this outfit.

Floral Through the Trees

mid-summer outfit 3

Greyson Clothiers Wolf Floral short ($120) – The tonal tropical print is perfect to wear for summer vacations, golfing and otherwise. They could also become quite a conversation piece with those wolf eyes peering out of the foliage on the rear. Perhaps if they were on the front, they’d help keep eyes on the ball.

Almost any light colored polo will go with these shorts, especially white, but we’re going a little bolder with Devereux’s Andrew cotton/poly, swing-free tailored polo in heathered coral. The belt is easy – stick to navy if you’re wearing more of an athletic looking shoe, or a brown leather like this Nike G-Flex stretch belt if the footwear choice is more traditional. “Just don’t wear a white belt,” my colleagues are yelling in the background.

Summer sales have already started to make room for incoming fall collections, so keep your eyes peeled for the deals.

  1. I just picked up a mint green Unde Armour belt that would look good with those Ted Baker shorts!
