Fashion: Fountain of Youth?
Fashion versatility is the key for Antigua Golf. With such a wide ranging customer demographic, it is vital to produce stylish, well-constructed apparel that appeals to seniors and teenagers alike. A tall order given the fashion preferences for each age group can be so starkly different.
“Young people want to look young and old people want to look young. I need to design apparel that accomplishes this but without making the older gentleman look like he is trying too hard,” said Antigua’s men’s designer, Sean Gregg. Well, Mr. Gregg, feel free to call yourself the “Ponce de Leon” of golf fashion designers. Prior to our conversation, my initial reaction to Antigua’s latest designs was “conservatively bold,” so I would say Antigua’s design team hit its mark!
The above photos showcase my favorite polos from the Spring 2018 collection. They are designed into an extensive range of trend-driven engineered chest stripes and solids. My favorite feature of all three shirts is the engineered hem cuff on the sleeves. They take the pattern of the shirt and run it perpendicular to the chest design which makes for a unique feature that really stands out and looks sharp! Conservatively bold, perhaps?
‘Fordable
The fit of Antigua is somewhere between athletic and regular, which plays to their multi-generational appeal. I would recommend ordering your normal size. Their price point is in the mid-tier for golf shirts. Antigua focuses on function and fashion as opposed to advertising, which not only keeps you cool in the hottest conditions, but makes you look (appropriately) younger, and also saves you money. Win. Win. Win.
I have been hesitant with Antigua and they have been around for a long time. I do really like the switch polo, I may give it a try. I really enjoy the writeups on collections when they are released because it gives us some scope/analysis on the line and piques interest in that brand. Keep up the great work Mike!
