Rickie Fowler’s 2015 Open Championship Apparel Script

Fresh off of his victory at the Scottish Open last week, Rickie Fowler heads to St. Andrews for The Open Championship (British Open) full of confidence and with a suitcase full of new apparel from Puma Golf’s AW’15 Collection.

Based on the forecast, outerwear pieces will likely be the most important part of players’ apparel scripts and Fowler will be outfitted in Puma’s new PWRWARM 1/4 Zip Popover.

PWRWARM was one of the stories that grabbed my attention at the PGA Merchandise Show back in January. It is a ceramic print in the fabric that helps to regulate body temperature by absorbing body heat. If the body gets too cold, then the stored heat is returned to the body. On the flip side, if the body is warm, it stores excess heat away from the body. Puma says that PWRWARM can increase a player’s microclimate by as much as 4 degrees celsius. And you thought ceramic was only good for baking casseroles.

As for the rest of Rickie’s script, he will pair four new polos from Puma’s new AW’15 Collection with technical 6-pocket pants and the brand’s TITANTOUR shoes (one of my favorite shoes for 2015). I recently talked with Kristin Hinze, who is the head of golf apparel at Puma, for one of my PGA Tour Style Insider columns, and here is what she had to say about Rickie’s 6-pocket pants:

“The 6-pocket is definitely Rickie’s go to pant. He actually had a hand in designing them – he asked for the “sixth” pocket – an extra deep scorecard pocket built inside the back patch pocket. The fabric is light and QuickDry, and the patch pocket silhouette is more progressive and stylish for the golf course than your traditional trouser.”

You can grab a pair Puma’s 6-pocket pants and the other pieces in Rickie Fowler’s Open Championship script through Puma Golf, Trendygolf and Fairway Styles.
