Billy Horschel set the Twitterverse on fire last year at the U.S. Open by donning octopus printed pants for the final round. Unfortunately his play was more reminiscent of chewy calamari.

This year at Pinehurst, Billy Ho will stick to his theme of sporting attention-grabbing trousers from RLX in the final round of majors with a pair of navy blue and green horizontal striped pants. Okay, these aren’t nearly as shocking as the octopus pants from 2013, but they are different and I like the creativity of pairing them with a pink shirt. We’ve seen Ralph Lauren pairing navy blue, green and pink together quite a bit this year and it makes for an exceptional look.
I also really like Horschel’s opening round outfit. It is crisp and fresh and the white-on-white pairing will serve him well in the warm and muggy conditions expected at the U.S. Open. The bold stripes are not only on trend this season, but they are also a great match for his aggressive personality. The No. 2 badge on the right chest of this commemorative polo is a stylish and modern tribute to Pinehurst’s host course.

Thursday: White and Light Blue U.S. Open Commemorative Polo and White Cypress Pants
Friday: Navy Luke Polo and Lime Hydro Pants
Saturday: Purple & White Yarn Dye Tech Pique and Royal RLX Hydro Pants
Sunday: Floral Pink Solid Airflow Solid and Navy & Green RLX Horizontal Stripe Pant
Like Horschel, Luke Donald will tee it up in the first round of the U.S. Open in a commemorative U.S. Open polo. Kudos to the folks at RLX for selecting two limited edition polos that fit the personal styles of the two players. While both shirts are trendy, Horschel’s is daring and Donald’s has more of a vintage vibe to it that suits his effortless style. Don’t overlook the contemporary touches in Donald’s shirt, though. The digital printed No. 2 on the right chest, the sleek stripe down the back and the high performance fabric make this shirt feel right at home in 2014.
The rest of the week, Donald will sport three distinct looks. Friday’s pinstriped pants offer a luxurious, up-market feel. Saturday’s light blue striped shirt and white pants combo is light, airy and preppy. Sunday’s monochromatic navy blue look is vintage Luke Donald.
