Just Chillin’ — Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia to Wear Adidas Golf’s ClimaChill at U.S. Open

Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia debuted Adidas Golf’s ClimaChill polos at The Players Championship last month and the duo will slip on two new styles in the ClimaChill line at the U.S. Open.

2014_adi_Scripting_PR_US_Open_DJ_11x8Johnson will sport four different colorways of Adidas Golf’s new ClimaChill Shoulder Block polo (part of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 Collection) that features a color-blocked design across the shoulders and contrast stitching around the cuffs of the sleeves. DJ will complete his look every day at Pinehurst with the 3-Stripes pants in a variety of colors and pure 360 shoes.

2014_adi_Scripting_PR_US_Open_SG_11x8Expect to see Sergio in the brand’s new ClimaChill Seam Print polo (also from Adidas’ Fall/Winter 2014 Collection). Like Johnson, Garcia will pair his Seam Print polos with 3-Stripes pants, but he will lace up the adizero one shoes that he’s been rockin’ all year.

climachill2The climachill Collection has been the story of the summer from an apparel standpoint for Adidas Golf, so it is no surprise that the brand will outfit its players in ClimaChill pieces to counteract the hot humid conditions at Pinehurst.

According to Adidas Golf, the ClimaChill fabric with woven titanium fibers is the most breathable material the company has used in its apparel lines. The lightweight fabric behaves like an open mesh to increase ventilation and speed the evaporation of sweat.

ClimachillThe coolest feature (in more ways than one) of the Climachill polos is the small aluminum dots strategically placed inside the back neck of the shirts. The back of the neck is one of the warmest areas on the body and these aluminum dots are said to deliver a cooling sensation when they make contact with the skin. Yes, you can think of these dots as chill pills.

“The climachill fabric is, by far, our most advanced to date and the benefits are actually developed at the microscopic level. It looks and feels like a solid performance fabric, but breathes like an open-air mesh. Once someone feels it, the difference is undeniable.” — Davide Mattucci, Director, Global Apparel Product Marketing for Adidas Golf
