This Week In Golf Fashion: The Celebrity Edition

Fitz’s drip, Buster’s splash hit, the Mack returns and sneak peeks a new collab, A-Rod plays coy in Greyson kicks, and more. Tour Editor Michael Ruuska rounds up the biggest fits from the shores of Pebble Beach.

Aaron Rodgers almost always wears adidas on the golf course. This year he mixed it up. On Saturday his trousers and Colorado Hoodie were unmistakably Greyson Clothiers. However, Rodgers shoes had me doing a double-take. They are unreleased colorways of the Greyson Coywolf Runner golf shoes. Three stipes or Wolfpack, Rodgers sartorial skills were on point at Pebble, minus the white belt. (Whistle) “Ten-yard penalty for offensively holding this outfit back from excellence.”

Macklemore

Check out that hat and glove! It looks like we will be seeing an adidas Golf x Bogey Boys collaboration soon. Are you wondering what is under Macklemore’s jacket? Check out @bogeyboys IG for a sneak peek of what’s (hopefully) to come!

Bill Murray

Apparently, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was the place to see golf apparel and footwear before they hit the shelf. Bill Murray was dialed-in with the updated ECCO Biom C4. (Spoiler alert: there will be a BOA model this season).

This G/FORE full-zip hoodie is killer! Unfortunately, it is not a tease for a future drop. It’s a previous release that is no longer available.

Buster Posey

A “splash hit” is when a SF Giants player hits a home run that lands in McCovey Cove on the fly. Buster Posey is a right-handed hitter which means McCovey Cove was off-limits in his playing days. No right-hander has ever hit one into McCovey Cove (although Posey once came close in the 2021 NLDS). He might not have deposited one in McCovey Cove on the fly but it is crystal clear that Buster looks fly in the TravisMathew Crystal Cove jacket. This jacket is a hit.

Larry Fitzgerald has style for days! The Greyson Camo Ottawa Shawl Cardigan is sophistication at its best.

Doc Redman (RLX & Ecco)

Let’s go back to the future, shall we? All golf apparel from Ralph Lauren will be under the RLX Golf brand going forward. And in March, Ecco will release a classically styled, traditional spiked golf shoe that I think Doc would totally rock! I had the chance to see them in Orlando and trust me, they would look great with this kit.

Keith Mitchell (Sid Mashburn & FootJoy)

Speaking of Orlando, while wolfing down lunch between appointments at the PGA Merchandise Show, Greg and I discussed potential interview targets for this year. Keith Mitchell was tops on our list. His partnership with Sid Mashburn is like the smell of fresh laundry in a stale room. Who else would you like to see us sit down with for a Q&A in 2023? Curiously, Keith is listed as a brand ambassador for the new luxury golf shoe, Boxto. However, he was still wearing FootJoy this past weekend.

Ryan Moore (TRUE Linkswear)

TRUE’s All Day Chino’s are my new favorite pants. I really want to get this Coffee colorway next. And then the Charcoal….

Everyone is talking about the new TRUE Lux Hybrid and rightfully so, but that is just the tip of the iceberg for what’s in store for 2023. If there is one brand gaining significant traction on Tour it’s TRUE Linkswear.

Troy Merritt (Rhoback & FootJoy)

Wait. What? Troy Merritt is wearing Rhoback?! Rhoback is another golf brand moving up the apparel leaderboard.

Nico Echavarria (Original Penguin & FootJoy)

It became official last week; Nico Echavarria joins Cameron Smith, Danny Lee, and Augusto Nunez as Original Penguin brand ambassadors. This is a partnership I will be paying close attention to in 2023. Nico is my pick for GolfThreads ROY.

Hank Lebioda (Holderness & Bourne & FootJoy)

The diamond jacquard knit pattern on the Holderness & Bourne Ward Sweater takes a classic crewneck and elevates it exponentially. This is going on my wish list.

Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers & Ecco)

The Greyson Koko Hoodie in Quartz? Yeah. That’ll do.

Satoshi Kodaira (Admiral & FootJoy)

PSA: if you are going to wear a white belt, do it like this.

Danny Willett (Descente & FootJoy)

Although I NEVER will recommend a white belt with anything other than white trousers, Danny Willett somehow managed to pull this off. DO NOT try this at home. This is only suggested for someone with multiple Threadies under their belt.
