This Week In Golf Fashion: WM Phoenix Open

JT squints, Spieth’s new kicks, Schauffele goes sans collar, Ryder’s hole-in-one mojito hue, cactus-inspired gear, and more. Tour Editor Michael Ruuska hits the sandlot and showcases the biggest fits from the Sonoran Desert.

Anytime someone reps a Michael “Squints” Palledorous jersey it is a boss move. When that someone is one of the best-dressed golfers in the world, it gets the lead in TWIGF. Plus, The Sandlot takes place in Los Angeles County (congratulations LA Rams) and tells one of the all-time great ❤ stories between Squints and Wendy Peffercorn (I am writing this on Valentine’s Day).

Much like JT, I’ve been known to wear a “Squints” jersey, but only to get my “Wendy.”

It appears everyone was having fun at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, including FootJoy. They released their Cactus Collection which features three different cactus-inspired caricatures to celebrate golf’s return to the desert. Is it me or does Max Homa look like he could be an adult version of Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez?

Harry Higgs (Greyson Clothiers & Adidas)

Harry Higgs does not get enough credit for his style. The unbuttoned polo is a vibe that few can pull off. Let’s just hope that he doesn’t make a habit of disrobing on the course! My last Sandlot doppelgänger reference, I promise. Harry Higgs and Hamilton “Ham” Porter, right?!

Sam Ryder (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)

The only person who might’ve had more fun than Harry Higgs this weekend (spectators at 16 don’t count) was Sam Ryder! The brown leather belt is the perfect complement to this simple mint and white kit from Greyson Clothiers.

Brooks Koepka (Nike Golf)

Brooks Koepka gave us a sneak peek of the White/Volt-Treeline-Pure Platinum version of the Infinity Tour Next% that should be available in April.

This nugget is for all of you lovebirds out there….the bracelet that Brooks wears on his right wrist was made by his fiancée, Jena Sims and says, “Jena.” I have heard that she has one, too.

Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf)

The thing I missed most about not attending the PGA Merchandise Show this year was getting a preview of the Puma collections that drop throughout the season. Puma’s “secret room” was always my favorite part of the week. Rickie is wearing the Conservation Golf Polo, the first of eight Tracks Collections.

Jordan Spieth (Under Armour)

Under Armour will no longer be offering a signature Spieth shoe. Jordan will be wearing the UA HOVR Drive 2 which was ranked the #1 spiked shoe by MyGolfSpy last year. There was a rumor that he was testing the new HOVR Tour SL but the lack of a white colorway was too much for his sartorial preference. Are you curious about when Jordan Spieth last wore a non-white golf shoe? If so, you are as warped as I am…

….I scoured the internet and the last time (to my knowledge) that he laced up a golf shoe that wasn’t white was April 2013 at the Valero Texas Open. There you go.

If you are indeed “warped” then I recommend you check out the Trippy Fish Polo from Scales Gear Offshore Country Club Collection.

Martin Trainer (Swannies Golf & Adidas)

I’ve always admired Martin Trainer’s psychedelic sock game. I guess I better start paying closer attention to his Swannies Golf polos. The all-over floral pattern on this shirt is right in my wheelhouse.

Xander Schauffele (Adidas Golf)

Xander Schauffele looks great in black. And this monochromatic kit on Sunday was killer. I am a big fan of the blade collar. In fact, I went straight to adidas.com to look for it but I might have been a bit premature. I’ll keep checking and keep you posted.

Jon Rahm (TravisMathew & Cuater)

The TravisMathew camo print Nip In The Air polo apparently has a sister shirt called Skywind (this is the one Rahm’s wearing) and it will be available February 22. The best part of these tops? Hidden palm trees. Go ahead and take a look….

Since I am typing this on Valentine’s Day and “pink” is the flush of first love; the FootJoy Lightweight Quarter-Zip seems like an appropriate item to finish with. I heart the pink and grey combination.
