There are no less than a half dozen new golf shoes being released by companies right now, and we’re adding one more to the list. Introducing the launch of PAYNTR Golf performance footwear.
The new golf brand is forged by co-founders Mike Forsey and David Paynter. Forsey is a U.S.-based golf footwear expert with more than 30 years of experience in the global arena. Paynter is a former professional cricketer who created the successful PAYNTR performance athletic footwear company in the U.K. As a company, they are committed to advancing a golfer’s game through knowledge, passion, and innovation.

The first model – the PAYNTR X 001 F shoe – fuses a series of contrasting elements to allow golfers to optimize and harness the power in their swing. This is what PAYNTR labels the Performance Multiplied innovation ethos – Force x Velocity = Power. Note the multiplication sign in the logo.
“PAYNTR GOLF gives golfers a traction advantage. The shoe amplifies the golfer’s ability to use the ground as leverage and generate more power to the ball,” said Forsey. “PAYNTR GOLF sees the golf shoe as golf equipment. Just as ball and clubhead speeds are critical to performance, so is harnessing the power from the ground in our feet. Your shoe has to give you support, energy return, comfort, be waterproof and lightweight. We believe we achieved each of these things in the X 001 F.”

Here’s the nitty-gritty:
The shoe combines four key elements – performance-enhancing traction system, all-day comfort, explosive propulsion, and waterproofing.
Performance-Enhancing Traction System

A 3D traction system that has rotational, horizontal, and vertical dimensions.
- Rotational dimension uses a ”Thermoplastic Urethane” (TPU) outsole is specifically designed with traction nubs in the medial forefoot and lateral heel to prevent rotational slippage while offering lightweight support.
- Horizontal dimension comes from the dual durometer midsole that supports horizontal weight shift with its firmer Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) in the lateral heel and medial forefoot to enhance flexibility and keep the foot down on the ground as long as possible.
- Vertical dimension is achieved using a responsive graphite power plate/midsole cavity that provides a responsive energy return and allows golfers to harness ground reaction forces during the golf swing.
Holistic Comfort

A lightweight breathable upper, soft and supportive underfoot cushioning, combined with a PMX (Performance Multiplied) FOAM midsole provides all-day comfort and zonal specific support for the golf swing. A vented tongue wicks perspiration away from the foot.
Explosive Propulsion
An articulated TPU outsole and zonally engineered PMX FOAM midsole house a lightweight responsive graphite power plate that helps deliver golfers maximum energy return to more effectively generate ground reaction force.
Waterproof
Beading water directly off the shoe in wet conditions, the PAYNTR X 001 F is treated with a superhydrophobic NeverWet® solution.
So far after a week of having the shoes in hand, we can definitely claim ‘out-of-the-box’ comfort. Our product tester wore the PAYNTR X 001 F for 16 holes, (called for darkness), followed by four days of standing on his feet, eight hours each, working at the recent AT&T ProAm in Pebble Beach. He reported feeling great in the shoes – lightweight, supportive, and no issues whatsoever. Two of those soggy days also proved the waterproof claim to be spot on.

The PAYNTR X 001 F is available starting March 1 at www.payntrgolf.com and www.payntrgolf.eu at $160.00 and £120, respectively. It comes in three colorways: classic white; cool grey; and anthracite black, which features an engineered, woven jacquard upper.
