Who is wearing what at Winged Foot
If you are like me, your internal sports clock is totally out of whack. The NFL has started, the NBA is still going, and the U.S. Open is teeing off. Sure, it feels more like Ryder Cup weather, but this is 2020 so we are just rolling with it.
At the U.S. Open, brands typically make their final apparel pushes for summer with vibrant colors and the latest and greatest tech fabrics. Instead, this year, many brands are using the platform to launch new layers and color stories for fall. Weather permitting, expect to see plenty of lightweight insulated vests, along with luxurious cashmere and merino sweaters. When it comes to autumnal colors, dark berries are ripe, greens are poppin’, and navy blue is the new black. From whimsical to loud, prints will dominate the scene and ’90s retro styles continue to make a comeback in the form of vertical stripes.
Here is a look at the apparel and footwear selections for the game’s top players at the U.S. Open. Scripts are listed in order of world ranking. Dustin Johnson has the tee.
Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)

New colors and styles for the FedEx Cup winner before finishing the week in his signature navy blue monochromatic kit. Vertical stripes offer a retro ‘90s vibe.
Favorite look: Friday
Jon Rahm (Adidas Golf)

Classic stripes and solids in rich colors for fall.
Favorite look: Sunday
Justin Thomas (Ralph Lauren)

Clean, All-American looks in blue and white. Stylish layering pieces throughout the week and printed trousers on Saturday are the highlights.
Favorite look: Saturday
Collin Morikawa (Adidas Golf)

The only player with a chance to win the Quarantine Slam, or is it a Triple? This is an easy-to-wear script that would look good on anyone.
Favorite look: Sunday
Webb Simpson (FootJoy)

Peep the new FootJoy kicks. Love the modern takes on the classic saddle shoe. Friday’s vest and Saturday’s pullover are on point.
Favorite look: Saturday
Xander Schauffele (Adidas Golf)

If Xander is in contention on Sunday, expect there to be no shortage of opinions on the mock polo and slim-fitting cargos.
Favorite look: Saturday
Bryson DeChambeau (Puma Golf)

Subtle camos with FusionYarn fabric and traditional looks with modern details.
Favorite look: Friday
Tyrrell Hatton (Adidas Golf)

A mix of sporty and classic fits. Power Berry color is the best in Adidas’ fall collection.
Favorite look: Saturday
Gary Woodland (Puma Golf)

A patriotic color palette with stripes, camo, and fighter jets. The defending champ rolls into Winged Foot in Puma x Volition America gear that honors and supports military families through the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Favorite look: Saturday
Viktor Hovland (J.Lindeberg)

Asymmetrical, fashion-forward look for the opening round followed by timeless contrasting plackets and chest stripes.
Favorite look: Saturday
Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren)

If you follow BillyHo on social media, you know he is stoked about the new FootJoy kicks and these classic kits from Ralph Lauren will work perfectly with the shoes. The navy blue creates a stylish backdrop for the pops of pink and royal blue.
Favorite look: Saturday
Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf)

Winged Foot is known for the blue and white awning covering the terrace in front of the clubhouse and Puma pulled inspiration from that iconic feature for Thursday’s polo and ‘P’ hat. The patriotic looks are clean, technical, and rooted in performance—a nod to the highly skilled members of the club.
Favorite look: Thursday
Chez Reavie (Peter Millar)

Reavie showcasing contemporary prints for fall with a geometric print on Thursday and blue camo print for the final round.
Favorite look: Sunday
Lee Westwood (Peter Millar)

Love the bright colored trousers. Also check out the new Fuse Hybrid Vest from Peter Millar on Saturday. The exterior is wind-resistant and features four-way stretch for optimal mobility and protection from the elements. It is finished with a two-way zip front closure and one zip chest pocket.
Favorite look: Sunday
Sergio Garcia (Adidas Golf)

Sergio has never been one to shy away from daring colors and patterns. Sunday’s colorblocked polo makes a bold statement. This script gets progressively more interesting as the week goes on.
Favorite look: Friday
Matt Wallace (J.Lindeberg)

Really highlights the depth and breadth of JL’s Fall Collection. Diggin’ the modern takes on classic JL designs. Thursday’s polo is one of my favorites for fall.
Favorite look: Thursday
Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers)

Mic drop! Bold, daring, aggressive, and stylish. Greyson’s palette of blues, greens, and purples is one of the best you’ll find this fall. Hoping for cool conditions so we can see this collection of swaggy sweaters.
Favorite look: Sunday
Joaquin Niemann (Adidas Golf)

Subtle textures through space dye stripes and engineered prints give these classic looks depth.
Favorite look: Sunday
Cameron Smith (Original Penguin)

Smith debuts Original Penguin’s Fall Collection with fun and whimsical prints.
Favorite look: Sunday
Christiaan Bezuidenhout (Galvin Green)

Pants? Who needs them when your polos and mid-layers look this good. Galvin Green is known for its outerwear and the Duke (Thursday and Saturday) is the most stylish of the bunch this fall. It doubles the warmth with INSULA fabric and PrimaLoft padding and looks as good off the course as on it.
Favorite look: Sunday
Jason Kokrak (William Murray Golf)

Maybe Jason Kokrak got Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s pants because he seems to have an extra pair every day. Anyway, these polos from William Murray Golf will surely bring some much-needed levity to Winged Foot. Prints include everything from pint glasses and six-pack rings to whiskey bottle stamps. Judging from the course set up, players may need a few stiff drinks after each round.
Favorite look: Sunday
Lanto Griffin (Galvin Green)

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know we are all in on Galvin Green’s prints this season with the Mike (Saturday) and Mason (Thursday) among our favorites.
Favorite look: Saturday
Brandt Snedeker (Peter Millar)

Saturday’s Hyperlight Vest packs down to fit in a self-stow pocket making Brandt’s caddie one happy looper. It may be light, but this vest packs in the warmth with 75G loose insulation and is also water repellent and windproof.
Favorite look: Friday
Troy Merritt (Galvin Green)

A fairly monotoned script that gets depth from microprints and stripes.
Favorite look: Saturday
Chesson Hadley (Peter Millar)

Wild Berry color plays nicely with navy blue. Look for Hadley to sport pieces from Peter Millar’s Crown Crafted Collection with a tailored fit that is trimmer in the torso and sleeves.
Favorite look: Saturday
Greg, i will see how the adidas guys wear it but those very stripes look ugly. Fashion forward or just ugly to you?
