2019 U.S. Open Apparel Scripts

The U.S. Open celebrates its 100th playing with a return trip to Pebble Beach. Warmer than expected temperatures early in the week will likely give way to June Gloom over the weekend, making layers an integral part of players’ wardrobes. Several brands are using the picturesque stage to give us a sneak peek at their Fall Collections and Justin Thomas is sporting his own capsule. Camo patterns and micro prints remain strong; red, white, and blue is the color story of choice; Nike is breaking the rules with denim; Adidas is turning plastic into shoes.

Here is a look at the apparel and footwear selections for the game’s top players at the U.S. Open. Scripts are listed in order of world ranking. Brooks Koepka has the tee. (He can’t say we dissed him.)

Brooks Koepka (Nike Golf)

A bit of irreverence as Nike brings the ‘No Demin Allowed’ footwear pack to Pebble Beach. Taboo denim accents are coupled with a colorful floral print on the outsole, insole, and lining. The floral pattern with clamshells, which is also found on another ‘interesting’ hat and Sunday’s jacquard polo, was inspired by the old Crosby Clambake at Pebble.

Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)

Can’t remember DJ wearing much red in his career. Monochromatic navy blue kit on Sunday brings back visions of his winning outfit at the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont. Johnson will also lace up the Adidas TOUR360 XT Parley with an upper created from upcycled plastic waste.

Rory McIlroy (Nike Golf)

Rory digs into the ‘No Demin Allowed’ pack with the Victory Tour shoe. Bold stripes on the Dri-Fit Player Polo continues Nike’s ‘90s vibe at the majors.

Favorite look: Thursday

Tiger Woods (Nike golf)

The red mock neck polo is back for Sunday’s round causing a little bit of my golf fashion soul to die. Thumbs up to the muted jewel tones the rest of the week, though.

Favorite look: Saturday

Justin Thomas (Polo Golf)

JT teamed up with Ralph Lauren on this sweet collab for the U.S. Open. Traditional solids and stripes are blended with edgy camos to create modern, yet sophisticated looks. The patriotic red, white, and blue color palette not only plays to the theme of the U.S. Open but also ties to Ralph Lauren’s strong American fashion heritage. Bryson DeChambeau (Puma Golf)

A little bit of everything for Bryson with ombres, rugby stripes, and tonal prints. Saturday’s Fronds Polo offers a casual resort feel for the course.

Favorite look: Saturday

Xander Schauffele (Adidas Golf)

Classic stripes, sporty heathered prints, and bold reds and blues. An all-American script for an all-American dude.

Favorite look: Saturday

Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf)

Our first look at Puma’s Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection and there is a lot to like. Trendy all-over prints, retro stripes, and a washed-out red, white, and blue camo. Rickie will also dip into Puma’s Stars & Stripes Pack for hats, headcovers, and his bag.

Favorite look: Thursday

Louis Oosthuizen (Peter Millar)

Bright pinks and aquas create a striking contrast against the soft neutrals. Five-pocket pants add a modern touch to the classic threads.

Favorite look: Sunday

Gary Woodland (Puma Golf)

The U.S. Open is a great place to show off Puma’s Volition America Collection that benefits the Folds of Honor. Tonal camos, rugby stripes, and bold patterns highlight Gary’s script.

Favorite look: Thursday

Sergio Garcia (Adidas Golf)

Tapered pants give Sergio a more tailored and modern look. Bold reds and blues keep him on brand with other Adidas athletes.

Favorite look: Sunday

Cameron Smith (Original Penguin)

Fun summertime script with whimsical prints and retro styles. If there was any doubt that navy blue is the color of the year, just take a peek at Cam’s wardrobe.

Favorite look: Thursday

Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren)

Stylish layering pieces from Ralph Lauren steal the show. Hybrid jacket, modern cardigan, preppy cricket sweater, technical vest, and a quarter-zip. All can be easily interchanged with Billy’s various outfits.

Favorite look: Friday

Brandt Snedeker (Peter Millar)

A preview of Peter Millar’s Fall 2019 line and the new Crown Crafted capsule. Polos have a trimmer, tapered fit through the body and shorter sleeves.

Favorite look: Friday

Si Woo Kim (Peter Millar)

Brilliant blues will look great against the backdrop of Monterey Bay. Ribbon belts add a touch of class.

Favorite look: Thursday

Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers)

EVR was one of the best dressed at Bethpage and by the looks of things, he’ll continue his strong style swerve at Pebble Beach. I have my eyes on Sunday’s Magic Emporium Polo in a new colorway and Saturday’s Rumson Jogger with a tuxedo stripe.

Favorite look: Sunday

Carlos Ortiz (Greyson Clothiers)

Great mix of colors and styles showcases the breadth of Greyson’s latest collection. Subtle micropatterns and feeder stripes add depth to Ortiz’s kits.

Cody Gribble (Callaway Tour Authentic)

Classic styles and luxurious fabrics are the keys to Gribble’s sophisticated looks. Braided belts are on trend for summer.

  1. Peter Millar always crushs it with solidly paired colors that are so complementary. Can’t wait for Dimes and Crimes.
