Day 2 at the PGA Championship: Erik van Rooyen goes G.O.A.T with joggers, Dustin Johnson laces up new kicks, Ian Poulter issues a ‘warning’ and more. Tour Editor Michael Ruuska breaks down the best and worst fashion choices from Friday at Bethpage.
Fashion Dimes
Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren & FootJoy)
Greg kicked off Day 1 of Fashion Dimes with Billy Horschel and I am doing the same. In fact, going forward I suggest we begin every Fashion Dimes with Billy-Ho. Bermuda Blue is a great color for spring and summer trousers, especially when paired with navy. Notice how perfectly his PXG hat and MyJoys match the navy in his kit. Billy takes his style seriously.
Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)
Dustin Johnson reverses the colors and looks equally Dime-worthy. However, the real story for me is DJ wearing AdiPure spikeless shoes in the early rounds. Straight fire.
Ian Poulter (Bespoke & FootJoy)
Typically, I am not a fan of burgundy colored slacks, but Ian Poulter’s custom pants caught my eye as a result of his bespoke sweater. Charcoal and burgundy, hmm…I will have to remember that color combination for the Fall. Also, kudos to FootJoy for having so much fun with their footwear this season. I love it!
Danny Willett (Descente & G/FORE)
Recently, I received a full custom club fitting at Club Champion. In my imagination, if I were to be fitted for golf apparel, the Trackman data would undoubtedly prove my theory that Descente improves my golf game.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello (FootJoy)
RCB looks like a badass. When in doubt; black and gray any day.
Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)
The Greyson G.O.A.T. Polo and Montauk Jogger are awesome. The shoes and belt put it over the top. My favorite look of the day.
Fashion Crimes
Patrick Reed
I did not like this polo on Brooks Koepka yesterday. It is awful on Patrick Reed. The color blocked design is horrible for his build. At least he didn’t wear a white belt…..
Jason Day
The hat. It is awful. I haven’t seen anyone wear it and look good in it.
Henrik Stenson
These glasses are huge. They remind me of something I would buy at the supermarket.
John Daly
Since we started with the best, might as well finish with the worst. Yikes.
