GolfThreads X TRENDYGOLF Selects: 3 Stylish Outfits for Your Spring Golf Trip

“Where do you buy your golf clothes?” That’s the question I’m asked most often on the course and in social media.

For the past 10 years, my shopping destination has been TRENDYGOLF. It delivers the latest designs from the most luxurious, high-performance brands to your doorstep. We’re talking about huge selections from brands like J.Lindeberg, RLX, Hugo Boss, Galvin Green, TravisMathew, G/FORE, Dunning, AG, Greyson, and more. The fact that you are reading GolfThreads means that you care about how you dress on the course and if you care about how you look then TRENDYGOLF should be saved to your Favorites.

I’m thrilled to say that GolfThreads is teaming up with TRENDYGOLF on a new series of content called ‘GolfThreads x TRENDYGOLF Selects.’ Every few weeks I’ll hand pick a curated collection of my favorite pieces from TRENDYGOLF’s vast inventory of fashionable threads based on a particular theme. Along the way, we’ll have some killer contests that will see lucky GolfThreads’ readers outfitted in the freshest apparel, courtesy of TRENDYGOLF. (Wait until you see our contest during Masters week!)

To kick things off, the first edition of GolfThreads x TRENDYGOLF Selects brings you three stylish, high-performance outfits for a long weekend golf trip this spring. This small batch collection includes bold and colorful polos and shorts in the hottest colors and patterns for the season. There is also a pair of jaw dropping modern brogue-style shoes, a go-anywhere layering piece, and a luxurious leather weekender bag to hold all of it. Whether you are heading to Myrtle Beach, Scottsdale, Palm Springs, or south of the border to Mexico, these kits are sure to keep you cool, comfortable and on point.

Day 1: Energy

Jet lag? Early morning flight to your destination for an afternoon round? Either way, I like to shake off the cobwebs on the first day of a golf trip with an energetic look. The RLX Airflow Polo in Ultra Lime not only accomplishes that, but it also complements that post-round margarita nicely. Plus, the ‘RLX’ logo on the left chest, which is exclusive to TRENDYGOLF, gives this classic polo a Tour-quality feel. This is a shirt that you will buy for your spring trip, but you’ll be wearing it for years to come.

Bright shirts need to be grounded with dark bottoms, which is why these Tailored Mesh Shorts from Puma Golf make for an exceptional pairing. The Peacoat (dark blue) color coordinates with the blue in the ‘RLX’ logo on the shirt and the pinhole mesh pattern of the fabric adds a bit of texture to an otherwise solid look. Puma has really taken its shorts game to another level this year. The new tailored fit offers a modern silhouette, and the mesh fabric and pockets allow heat to easily escape and air to flow.

You can never go wrong by matching your belt to your pants, but if you can match it to both your pants and your shirt, then go for it. J.Lindeberg’s Ryder Ribbed Nylon Belt syncs up perfectly with this kit and creates a smooth transition from top to bottom. I also prefer nylon and cotton belts in warmer months as they offer a lighter look and feel compared to leather.

The easiest way to pack light is to bring one pair of white shoes for the entire trip. Flat out, G/FORE has the most stylish collection of kicks this year, which makes the brand’s Longwing Gallivanter in Snow an obvious choice. This shoe blends old school charm and modern performance thanks to classic brogue detailing, a waterproof full grain leather upper, and top-notch traction. We’re talking about serious style points here.

Day 2: Crisp & Clean

By now you’ve knocked a little rust off your game. On Day 2, the bets become more serious, the trash talk is a little louder, and 36 holes are probably on the docket. This calls for a bold look, fresh colors, and comfortable threads, and J.Lindeberg’s Carl Polo delivers all three of these things. This mint green color is one of the trendy hues for the season and when paired with wide aqua blue stripes, it presents a daring look. Plus, JL’s technical jersey fabric has the performance qualities to go the distance. This is a slim fitting polo, so size up.

When it comes to performance, Kjus is at the head of the class. The brand got its start on the ski slopes and has brought many of its stretchy technical materials to the course. Combining JL’s Carl Polo with a pair of white Inmotion Shorts from Kjus results in a crisp look for spring. The cool thing about these shorts is that the technical twill fabric wears and feels like your favorite chinos. A special water repellency treatment protects them against sand, dirt, and Bloody Mary spills.

Your choice in belts could make or break this kit, which is why AG’s Freeman Braided Belt is a smart choice. It blends nicely with the white shorts and looks like an extension of the stripes on the shirt.

In addition to its sick collection of shoes, G/FORE’s range of hats is pretty wicked, too. Sure, you could wear one of those caps with a Tour logo, but why not be unique with a fun and stylish lid like this Circle G’s Hat from G/FORE. Plus, the dark blue color complements all three of these outfits.

Day 3: A Fashionably Strong Finish

For the past two days, polos were the statement pieces in your outfits. Now, we switch it up. The large tone-on-tone print on Greyson’s Wolffloral Short puts you completely on trend and makes a strong statement without being over the top. Greyson is making my favorite pants and shorts right now. They are perfectly tailored, feel great, and have a ton of stretch. Again, go with a braided belt that matches the shorts, like J.Lindeberg’s Chapper Elastic Belt.

Always pair a print with a solid, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for a run of the mill shirt. Instead, indulge in Dunhill Links’ Luxury Technical Polo. The tailoring of this shirt is on point and the cool touch nylon fabric really does feel cool to the touch. This Channel Blue color pulls out the lighter blue in the Greyson short and is more interesting than white.

Spring weather is unpredictable, which means a warm layering piece is an essential for your trip. I’ve been singing the praises of Dunning pullovers for years and the brand has just taken them to another level in 2017. The new Natural Hand ¼ Zip Pullovers feature a cotton/polyester/bamboo charcoal blend. They feel like your favorite cotton sweater with the added benefits of mechanical stretch. Much like those white G/FORE shoes, this Oatmeal Heather colorway will help you to pack light. It complements every outfit here and easily transitions to off-course settings.

How to Travel in Style

Now that you have three stylish looks for your trip, where do you pack everything? No, a generic black roller board isn’t the answer. The most stylish guys are hitting the roads and runways this year with leather weekender bags, like Royal Albartross’ Bedford Weekender. This bag oozes style, class, and sophistication and will put your buddies’ plastic containers with wheels to shame. Crafted with an Italian calf leather exterior, a multitude of interior pockets and a colorful interior lining, this bag is perfect for a weekend golf trip. It even has a zipped base compartment for golf shoes.
