For some reason, holidays seem to be an excuse for dressing poorly (think bad Christmas sweaters and Halloween socks) and the 4th of July seems to be one of those holidays that brings out the worst in people’s fashion sense. I already know I’ll see a handful of people on the course this 4th of July with shirts or shorts that would look more at home on a flagpole rather than the fairways.
So how do you show some patriotism without looking like a star-spangled mess? We’ve put together a head-to-toe list of suggestions to keep you looking your best while sporting the red, white and blue on the links this 4th of July.
Part Time Golf League Hats
We reviewed these hats from Part Time Golf Company earlier this year and they instantly became a favorite thanks to the understated logo on the left front panel that resembles the red, white and blue logos of American sports leagues. The League hats are available in a variety of modern Flexfit styles–the flat brimmed Pro Fitted 210, the Snapback Retro Trucker and the Mesh Ultrafibre. These have been worn by celebrities such as Bill Murray and Big Break contestants like Derek Bohlen and Brent Long. Full Review of Part Time Golf Company.
IZOD Golf Color Block Polo
Is there anything more American than a preppy polo? The Color Block Polo from IZOD Golf is straight out of Webb Simpson’s U.S. Open script and showcases one of the hottest trends in golf apparel this summer–the wide rugby stripe. Best of all, this all-american polo will transition effortlessly from the course to your afternoon barbecue. Pair this with white or navy shorts and a red belt for a perfect patriotic look this 4th of July.
Piedmont Leather Red, White or Blue Tejus Lizard Belts
A simple way to add a splash of color to your 4th of July vibe is with a custom belt from Piedmont Leather. These belts are made in the good ol’ U.S. of A. from genuine tejus lizard skin and available in a variety of colors. Best of all, they check in at under $140, which places them at the more affordable end of the exotic belt price range.
Chase54 Blue Glen Plaid Traveller Shorts
This is the perfect time to introduce yourself to Chase54–one of the best kept secrets in golf apparel. These Traveller shorts are a great example of the quality and subtle details you’ll find with Chase54 gear. Sure the poly twill stretch fabric is comfortable and the slimmer fit is on trend, but what really sets these shorts apart is the red piping around the front pockets and rear waistband–providing a great accent to the blue glen plaid pattern. Pair these with a solid white shirt and a red belt for a fire-cracking good look. Full review of Chase54.

Iliac by Bert La Mar Head Covers
Handmade and precision-crafted by Bert La Mar in his Carlsbad, CA studio, these elegant leather head covers bring us back to simpler times of balata balls and persimmon drivers. The soft, subtle leather is lined with wool and like a great catcher’s mitt, becomes even softer over time. Whether you choose the international design, argyle, military stripes, polo stripes or tour stripes, Iliac head covers are sure to elevate your bag to a new level of sophistication.
G/FORE Liberty Glove
Life, liberty and the pursuit of color. The eye-popping red, white and blue color blocking on the G/FORE Liberty glove will make a bold statement on the links this 4th of July. This glove isn’t just a pretty face, though. The AA cabretta leather will deliver the performance you need to go low on Independence Day. Full review of G/FORE gloves.
