Most apparel brands release two collections a year–Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. But, one of the things I like about Travis Mathew is that they release six collections a year, so you are always less than two months away from new colors and fresh designs. Apparently there is too much awesomeness to be contained in two collections a year. It needs to be spread out in bimonthly intervals. Earlier this week Travis Mathew released their second collection for 2013, the Mid Spring Collection.
Augusta State of Mind
Those of you who are familiar with Travis Mathew know that a simple color palette of black, white and grey form the backdrop of every collection. Another color (or two) is fused with these basic colors to give each collection a unique “pop” of personality. This “pop” is served up in the Mid Spring Collection in the form of a vibrant, grassy green that is used in aggressive stripes and classic solids.
I don’t know about you, but green + spring makes me think of a certain tournament that takes place the second week of April in Augusta, GA. We may never know if The Masters was on the minds of the folks at Travis Mathew when this collection was created, but I do know that I will be wearing one of these shirts for my early morning round on Masters’ Sunday.
My favorites from the Mid Spring Collection? The classic-looking, single pocket OG that would look right at home in Amen Corner, the bright and bold Wilson, the striped Stella sweater for those chilly spring mornings, the 90 Day Probation shorts for the warm afternoons and The Captain button-down for that relaxed off-course vibe.
On Trend with Heathered Fabrics
One of the hottest trends in golf style this year is heathered fabrics–interwoven yarns of mixed colors that produce a muted greyish shade of a color. Travis Mathew gets you on trend this spring with several shirts, including the Kruger and the Triple T, that provide a heathered-look. The Kruger (in heather grey) features a four-button placket with a piece of dark denim fabric on the bottom placket, while the Triple T (in heathered jolly green) incorporates contrast stitching around the hems of the sleeves and on the edges of the plackets and the collar.
Mid Spring Collection Style Guide
Travis Mathew has always excelled at differentiating themselves from other apparel brands through unique marketing and merchandising programs. The latest is a Style Guide that was launched in conjunction with the Mid Spring Collection. Not only is this a great tool for those who need the assistance of their wife/girlfriend (or dare I say mom) to put a complete look together, but it also shows the versatility of Travis Mathew apparel. So, whether you are heading to the links, the pub, the beach or the office, Travis Mathew has a complete outfit for you and it requires no thought on your part. Best of all, you save 20% when you purchase the complete outfit. My favorite look from the Style Guide is the “go-anywhere” Jonesin’–but come on guys!–Jones bags are supposed to be thrown backwards over your shoulder.
