Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren & FootJoy)
Look of the Day goes to Billy Horschel who personified the ‘look good, feel good, play great’ mentality in this Johnny collar polo from Ralph Lauren.
‘90s retro styles may be dominating your Instagram feed, but I find myself being drawn to the more sophisticated and mod-inspired designs of the ‘60s. The Johnny collar was named after singer Johnny Mathis, who set the trend with this style of collar in the ‘60s. It is no surprise to see Billy Horschel setting trends like Mathis did back in the day.

Rory McIlroy (Nike)
Friday’s conditions at Royal Troon produced peak sweater weather, and Rory’s knitwear game was in peak form, even if his golf game wasn’t. Often, we are obsessed with the things we can’t have, and that seems to be the case with Rory’s jumpers. The mystery continues as he keeps flaunting these crewnecks and hoodies in our faces, yet they never appear on the Nike site. We can only assume these are part of a bespoke collection. Btw, this is a winning color combo for Fall.
Ben Griffin (Holderness & Bourne & FootJoy)
Same color combo with more texture. One of the big trends for Fall is quilting and texture with layering pieces. The Ward Sweater for Holderness & Bourne checks all the boxes while bringing a refined look to the course.
Max Homa (FootJoy)
Before we get into the depths of Fall, we hit the transition season. Max Homa showed us a clean and easy way to transition from the dog days of summer to cooler autumn weather. The contrast stitching gives this fit a relaxed and sporty vibe. Btw, I love the fight this guy showed to make the cut.
Joaquin Niemann (Stuburt & Adidas Golf)
It’s difficult to believe that just a few days ago, Jaco and his Fireballs teammates looked like they were ready to work the drive-through window at McDonalds. Friday, Niemann proved why he should be in charge of the uniforms rather than Sergio Garcia. The turquoise sweater brought some color and energy to a drab day on the Scottish coast.
Bryson DeChambeau ( Stitch Golf & FootJoy)
Bryson’s game and personality have matured and so has his fashion sense. Stitch’s refined looks provide him with a more refined style compared to some of the overly aggressive patterns he wore in the past.
Tiger Woods (Sun Day Red)
Tiger doesn’t have much of a golf game right now, but this is the best he has looked on the course since his amateur days. When his Sun Day Red brand launched, the sweaters looked to be the best pieces in the collection, and they haven’t disappointed. It will be interesting to see where SDR goes from here. The brand needs a top-level player sporting its gear on a regular basis. When is Scottie’s deal with Nike up?

For me, Sunday Red has exceeded expectations this season. Not sure TW is ready to have another player in it just yet…but hopefully sooner than later.
