Ryd-er die with Greyson’s Dress Sport, jewel tones for the win this season, Kygo’s palm trees bring tropical vibes for fall, lessons in layering, and more. GolfThreads breaks down the fashion scene from the Zozo Championship in Japan.

Best Dressed of the Week goes to Sam Ryder. From the contemporary sophistication of cashmere sweaters and joggers to outlandish prints, every one of his fits epitomized Greyson’s ‘Dress Sport’ approach while showcasing the breadth and depth of the brand’s Fall Collection.

As pastels are to spring, jewel tones are to fall and emerald green is one of the jewel tones that will jump-start your autumn wardrobe. Sure, pairing grey trousers with this solid black shirt would have been an acceptable (and safe) play, but the emerald green really punches up this fit. Extra credit for the matching FJ Tarlows. Taylor Moore is one to watch on the golf fashion scene.

One of the fun parts about watching Tom Kim’s rise in popularity over the last couple of months has been checking out his FootJoy Korea wardrobe. I’ve been diggin’ FJ’s U.S. collections, but the designs from Asia have a bit more flair and just hit different. Case in point, this cardigan vest possesses a unique style we don’t see here in the States.

When it comes to the ’90s retro designs, I could take them or leave them (mostly leave them), but I’m all in on the return of big Oakley wrap-around shades. The stunning Sutros worn by Ryo Hisatsune make a bold statement anywhere from the trails to beach to the course, while Patrick Rodgers’ Radar EV Paths take me back to the first Oakleys that landed on the course.

We’ve been accustomed to seeing Puma Golf and Kygo’s Palm Tree Collective (PTC) collab on tropical springtime collections, but the two brands just dropped a new capsule that is keeping those feel-good vibes rolling into fall. The latest collection includes everything from polos, hoodies, and t-shirts to shoes, socks, and drivers.

Viktor Hovland & Matt Wallace (J.Lindeberg)

There were plenty of monochromatic black looks this week, but most lacked depth and fell flat. This was not the case for the JL brothers as they took a couple of different approaches to stand out from the crowd. Viktor Hovland added a splash of color with a vibrant yellow JL bridge logo on the back of his polo while Matt Wallace opted for broken stripes down the sides of his pants.

Of course, no one dialed up their black-on-black kit quite like Hiroshi Iwata with those dazzling black and white patent leather kicks.

Tomoharu Otsuki (New Era)

Who knew New Era was in the apparel game? I thought they just made dope lids. The turtleneck under the crewneck has some retro feels.

Trend alert! Purple is the color of the season. Even though you want to pair it with black and grey, combining it with navy is the right call.

It is no surprise to see Under Armour heating up the fairways with some high-tech layers and the Storm Sweater Fleece 1/2-Zip does it all. It has the warmth of a sweater, the stretch of your favorite pullover, and the rain protection of a jacket. From a style standpoint, it brings back a sporty, color-blocked design.

Same UA Storm Sweater Fleece, but a more colorful execution with the hit of magenta under the petrol blue layer. These colors complement each other nicely.
