This Week In Golf Fashion: THE PLAYERS Championship

JT wins in the wolf, Scott Harrington nails the jogger/hoodie look, Spieth spits venom, and more. Players gonna play…and they dress well, too. Tour Editor Michael Ruuska recaps the Sawgrass style scene.

All looks are independently selected by GolfThreads’ Editors. When you buy a product through some of our links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Scott Harrington (G/FORE)

Scott Harrington topped the best dress list at The Players Championship. Admittedly he “caught a lot of flak, and got a lot of love” for pairing the G/FORE Sketch Hooded Pullover with the Fore Joggers. Count us in the “lot of love” category.

Only wear one statement piece per look if you want something to stand out. If you want to wear patterned pants, pair them with very simple shoes, belt, and a solid color shirt. Or, if you have a cool, different belt then keep everything else tame.

I’d say Anirban Lahiri followed this rule to a tee. His madras pants certainly stood out.

Cameron Smith (Original Penguin & FootJoy)

As much as Cameron Smith broke the rules with this Original Penguin kit on Sunday, he managed to pull it off. His scripting for the weekend was meant to pay homage to Florida’s resort lifestyle. This combination is best described as retro-resort chic.

Viktor Hovland (J.Lindeberg)

These J.Lindeberg Tim Golf Pants are amazing. I just don’t understand Viktor’s belt selection. It left me scratching my head.

Dustin Johnson (adidas Golf)

Is it me or does this adidas Go-To Polo look like it is ridiculously comfortable?

Doc Redman (Ralph Lauren Golf & True Linkswear)

Seems more and more guys on Tour are wearing TRUE Linkswear. And for good reason! Can’t say I blame Doc Redman for choosing the TRUE LUX Pro. They look fantastic with this kit from Ralph Lauren Golf.

Jordan Spieth (Under Armour)

I am really digging this Black/Venom Red version of the UA Playoff Polo 2.0. However, the shirt I am most excited about from Under Armour is the Tonal Laurel Floral Playoff Polo.

Tyler McCumber (TravisMathew & Cuater)

If floral polos are your thing (they certainly are mine), TravisMathew has no shortage of righteous tropical prints. I give my guy, Tyler McCumber a thumbs up for selecting the Bay Breeze Polo. We need the team at Cuater to get him a belt that fits, though. Keep an eye out for an article later this week ranking the top tattoos on Tour. (Hint, Tyler made the list).

Justin Thomas (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)

Nothing too flashy here but man-oh-man did JT look sharp in this simple getup. The sage green Greyson Montauk Trousers with a white shirt and shoes were a winning combination.

Lanto Griffin (Galvin Green & FootJoy)

The Galvin Green Murray Polo was inspired by a sharkskin print. It’s another must-have GG polo for me this season. Lanto brilliantly paired this shirt with the FootJoy Premiere Tarlow shoes made from calfskin leather for an elevated look.

Another week, another “bullseye” by Black Quail Apparel. The La Flecha (translates to “the arrow”) polo hit the mark with me.

Dylan Frittelli (Oakley & Cuater)

This picture is from The Players Championship practice round on Wednesday. It reminded me of a conversation I recently had with Dylan Frittelli. He told me that his fashion pet peeve is when people wear the wrong color sock and shoe combination. With that being said, Dylan explained that the white sole and athletic aesthetic of the Cuater Moneymaker’s allow him to wear white socks even with black and grey versions of these shoes. I’d agree.

I am planning to try sunglasses on the course this season, and the reviews on these Oakley Prizm Golf lenses are on my shortlist. Anyone have any other golf sunglass recommendations?

  1. I didn’t think JT would look as good after RLX dumped him but he looked superb in Greyson. Seamless transition for him.
