GolfThreads x TRENDYGOLF Selects: Greg’s Father’s Day Gift List

June is a glorious month. The weather is warm, the days are long, and my birthday and Father’s Day are a mere eight days apart. That’s two gift giving occasions for this guy. This is also the time of the year when every blog, publication, and e-commerce site unveils the ol’ Father’s Day Gift Guide. Usually, the it is a random assortment of stuff that the writer throws together in order to meet some deadline.

Rather than go down that path, I figured I would give you a curated collection of 16 stylish things that are actually on my birthday and Father’s Day lists for this edition of GolfThreads x TRENDYGOLF Selects. This collection has everything from the trendiest polos and the coolest shorts to the sickest bags and most luxurious kicks—all of which are available at TRENDYGOLF. Whether you are looking for a stylish gift for your dad or a fellow dad looking to point your family in the right direction, you can’t go wrong with this selection.

Greyson X Jones Stand Bag
When I heard that Greyson and Jones were teaming up on a bag, I knew it would be epic. The result was even better than I expected. This is probably the most stylish stand bag EVER. It features two of Greyson’s signature patterns—a sophisticated herringbone and an edgy camo—and combines them with Jones’ clean, minimalistic style. The bag is also waterproof, has a plethora of pockets, and a dual strap.

Greyson Comanche ½ Zip Hybrid Pullover
Layering is a year-round activity here in Northern California, especially when the June Gloom rolls in. The Greyson Comanche Pullover is perfect for taking on the fog, mist, and cool conditions of the Bay Area summer. It is windproof and water repellent and the color-blocked design offers a sporty look. Even if you aren’t spending time in NorCal, this is a great layering piece for mornings on the coast or evenings in the mountains.

J.Lindeberg Jens Slim Fieldsensor 2.0 Polo
The biggest trend in polos this summer is also the simplest. Flip on any Tour event and you’ll see players sporting banded sleeves and tipped collars. The J.Lindeberg’s Jens Polo separates itself from the pack with subtle details, though. J.Lindeberg always finds creative ways to integrate its JL bridge logo into key design elements. And, on the Jens, it has worked the logo into the tipping on the collar. As basic as this shirt appears from the front, tonal branding running down the back brings an element of surprise. The Jens runs small, so order Dad one size up.

Ralph Lauren U.S. Open Collection
As the official outfitter of the USGA and the U.S. Open, Ralph Lauren has been creating these capsule collections of exclusive commemorative apparel. Two of the best pieces in this year’s collection are the daring Black Camo Pullover and the bold Engineered Stripe Tech Pique and Chest Stripe Pique Polos. Both polos feature a unique U.S. Open badge with the host course, Erin Hills and the year. Give Dad one of these commemorative pieces and then let him watch the final round in peace.

TravisMathew Havana Polo
Made for cool dads and warm nights, TravisMathew’s Havana Polo has all the makings of a go-to polo. The flecks of gray in the fabric put stylish and interesting twist on the basic black polo. The rich details, tailored fit, and 100% cotton jersey allow this shirt to be dressed up or down. Slip on the Havana, pour a glass of aged rum, and enjoy a quiet evening on the deck this Father’s Day.

Linksoul T-Shirts
Sure, I have a drawer full of Linksoul T-Shirts, but you can never have too much of a good thing, which is why these shirts are a staple on my Christmas, Birthday, and Father’s Day lists. They are ridiculously soft, have a slim, modern fit, and have sweet graphics on the fronts. My favorite is the New Standard, which I have in two colors. It is basically a summer essential. Right now, I have my eye on the Peacemaker and the Union Antique. You can’t go wrong with any of them, though, which is why the Foundry, Pocket Standard, Idealist, and Layover are all worth the click.

Linksoul Boardshorts
A great pair of boardshorts is a necessity for summer. Last summer I lived in Linksoul shorts, so why not give the brand’s boardshorts a go this year. The four-way stretch, quick dry fabric is perfect for a day at the beach or the pool and the versatility allows them to easily transition to the course for a casual twilight round. I’m diggin’ the tasteful floral prints, but the tonal Ikat print and colorful stripes are smart options, too.

G/FORE Camo Poly Jersey Polo
Designers continue to give us new and interesting takes on camo patterns and the design on the G/FORE’s Camo Poly Jersey Polo is one the best of the season. As opposed to many of the dark gray and blue camos that we saw last fall, this summer pattern is bright, light, and airy. Pair it with the brand’s Club Stretch Short in Snow for a clean look or Lapis for a more colorful option.

G/FORE Collection Gloves
For years, I would stroll into the golf shop and buy the same glove. It was made from leather, had Velcro, was white and boring. That was until I found G/FORE’s colored gloves. A glove or two from G/FORE is an easy way to add a splash of energy to Dad’s on-course wardrobe. My favorite colors for summer are tangerine, aqua, and mint, but you can choose from a spectrum of coolness.

Orlebar Brown Morton Tailored Shirt
Linen is the quintessential fabric for summer. It is lightweight, breathable, and looks as good at the poolside bar as it does in the office. Most of the linen shirts in my closet have a relaxed fit, but Orlebar Brown’s Morton is well tailored making it a must-have for the season.

Bonobos Flatiron Jacquard Space Invader Polo
If you create a great fitting polo, then you’ll probably grab my attention. If you put mini space invaders all over it, then I’m all in. Bonobos’ Flatiron Jacquard Space Invader Polo is one of the hidden gems of summer. Think about it. Of all the Atari characters, space invaders are perfect for a microprint. Mini asteroids or centipedes just wouldn’t have the same effect.

JonesDuffle

Jones Utility Duffle
Summer was meant for long weekends, and whether I’m road tripping to Vegas, Tahoe, or a golf excursion, the Jones Utility Duffle would make for an easy and stylish way to travel. As much as I like a leather weekend bag, the nylon fabric on this duffle offers a lighter look and feel for the warmer months. There is plenty of room for a few days of clothes and golf shoes, and it can effortlessly fit the overhead compartment or the corner of a crowded trunk.

Royal Albartross Club Crew Navy
The only thing better than a sweet pair of brogues is a modern interpretation of a sweet pair of brogues. Royal Albartross’ Club Crews combine the old world charm and craftsmanship of your grandfather’s wingtips with a new school street-style shoe. Not to mention, they look awesome with a pair of well-tailored shorts. Over the last couple of years, the Club Crew Dominos have been my go-to kicks on the course, and now it is time for a fresh colorway.

AG Green Label Birds of Paradise Polo
AG is crushing it this year. Kevin Kisner has been cleaning up on the PGA Tour while showcasing the brand’s high-fashion and high-performance looks. Our friends at TRENDYGOLF called the Birds of Paradise Polo “a must-have” for summer and it is easy to see why. It’s fun, colorful, on-trend and has a nice modern fit. Also, the technical pique fabric is perfect for a tropical locale as the open weave allows air to circulate through the shirt.

Redvanly Lugar Polo
Casual, athletic looks are dominating the menswear scene these days and Redvanly’s new line of shirts feeds into that trend. The Lugar Polo, with a sporty color-blocked design, easily transitions from the course to the court or the street for a stylish, yet no-fuss look. The soft Tencel blend will have you double checking the tag to make sure it isn’t cotton. Yeah, it’s that soft and it flat out performs. Order Dad his normal size for a slim fit or size up for a more relaxed fit.
