Ralph Lauren is outfitting nearly everyone at the U.S. Open and Oakmont is a more stylish place because of it. As the Official Outfitter of the USGA and the U.S. Open, the fashion brand’s apparel can be seen here, there and everywhere at the historic course this week.
Not only is Ralph Lauren dressing brand ambassadors Billy Horschel, Justin Thomas, Luke Donald, and Matteo Manassero in the freshest threads, it is also outfitting USGA Committee members, staff, and more than 5,000 volunteers. Based on Mother Nature’s mood so far, we’re guessing the most valuable piece in the volunteer’s kit has been the 2.5 layer water-resistant jacket. How about some sunshine, Pittsburgh!
To celebrate the rich history of Oakmont and golf’s return to the Summer Olympics, Ralph Lauren has also created a collection of exclusive commemorative apparel. You’ll see Billy Horschel and Justin Thomas sporting special shirts from the collection in the first round (whenever Mother Nature gives everyone a break). Look for Horschel in the boldly striped RLX Technical Pique Polo, while Thomas will be donning the Performance Lisle Polo with royal and red color blocking. Both shirts feature a unique 2016 U.S. Open patch on the right chest that captures the essence of the event and the setting.
If you are heading out to Oakmont, be sure to stop by the small city that is known as the Main Merchandise Pavilion. The team at Ralph Lauren designed the layout and display fixtures in the 37,000 square foot pavilion, plus the smaller Satellite Merchandise Tent. While you are there, you should have no problem picking up some of Ralph Lauren’s official U.S. Open gear, much of which combines the brand’s iconic preppy style with the black and yellow color schemes of the Steel City’s professional sports teams. Well played, team RL! You sure know how to get on a host city’s good side.
