Live Forever Golf: Low-Key Effortless Style

I first discovered Live Forever Golf (LFG) a few years back at the PGA Merchandise Show when they were a fledgling golf apparel brand trying to carve out their niche in an ever-competitive market. Their vision was obvious. And, obviously cool, at that. In fact, if Jack Johnson were a golfer, this would be his jam; a laid-back, breezy vibe with a low-key and effortless style that travels with you wherever you go.

Despite their name, Live Forever Golf is not meant to be worn only on the course. They are a true lifestyle apparel brand that appeals to guys who consider golf one of many interests such as surfing, fishing, boating, hiking, etc., which is summed up in their tagline – “for the player, not the game.” This year the guys at LFG have some righteous new stuff for all you players.

Totally Terrific Tops

Spring weather is unpredictable. Whether you are playing golf, going for an early morning walk, or sitting by the fire with friends and family the right layer is essential. Here are a few of my favorite wear-anywhere tops that are both functional and unassumingly cool.

Dawn Patrol Performance Knit Crew

The Dawn Patrol Performance Knit Crew has become my new favorite top. After years of wearing 1/4 zips and hoodies, I rediscovered the charm of an old-school crewneck. This one has charm and then some. The textured fabric exponentially elevates this knit crew. You can dress it up over a polo (just do your best to keep the collar tucked in, will ya) or keep it casual, by layering it over a tee.

Slate Blue was my color of choice, and it looks dynamite with light grey and khaki trousers. I did size up to an XL with the intent of layering if over a polo. Sizing will depend on how you prefer your fit, I could’ve gone with a Large or XL but I like my tops a bit roomier these days (sigh). FYI, this also comes in a hoodie version.

Weekend Warrior Hoodie

This Weekend Warrior Hoodie has you covered from coast to course, cardio to coffee. The super soft blend of cotton & poly/spandex has a unique ribbed texture that is a little more casual than the aforementioned Dawn Patrol series but could still easily be worn for a round of golf or grabbing drinks with that special someone when paired with a nice pair of slacks. See above for sizing tips.

Soft Landing Natural Performance Hoodie

The Soft Landing Natural Performance Hoodie is the hoodie you reach for when you are going to the gym, your kid’s soccer game, running weekend errands, a morning stroll, and most importantly…when you want to look more “damn” than “dad.” I would stick with my usual size Large given that I’d wear this as a stand-alone top and not a layer.

Course to Coast Performance Golf Pant

When I move, you move…that is all that I ask of my pants. If golf and athleisurewear have made one meaningful contribution to men’s fashion it would be normalizing lightweight, comfortable pants that look good, breathe, and have adequate stretch.

The LFG Course to Coast Performance Golf Pant does all of the above. These have a slightly tailored fit, so as a result I went up an inch in the waist and I was happy I did so. The Dusty Olive is my favorite colorway and looks fantastic with the Charcoal Dawn Patrol Hoodie. As an aside, I really like the stitch detailing on the back pockets of these pants.
