J.Lindeberg Celebrates Its Heritage with the ICONIC Collection

Few brands have had an impact on golf fashion like J.Lindeberg. In the late ‘90s and early aughts, the Swedish fashion house challenged golf’s status quo with progressive designs and unexpected looks.

At a time when pleated khakis and oversized polos were the norm, J.Lindeberg brought colorful plaids, drainpipe trousers, wide belts, and slim-fitting polos to the fairways. Not to mention, its sweaters with deconstructed argyle patterns were part country club chic, part rock ‘n roll. To showcase these bold and brash looks, the brand inked deals with Jesper Parnevik, Aaron Baddeley, and Camilo Villegas—all who had the swagger to sport the trendsetting threads.

At the heart of J.Lindeberg’s designs was its Bridge logo—a mark that has reached iconic status in the game of golf. The Bridge was incorporated into many of JL’s designs, including the Slater belt buckle and Lachlan Polo. Prior to the Slater, belts were an afterthought. Simply a functional accessory to keep one’s pants on one’s hips. The Slater made belts cool and important components of golfer’s outfits. Many other brands tried to create similar designs, but the Slater was (and is) the OG of golf belts.

Now, J.Lindeberg is celebrating its heritage with the release of the ICONIC Golf Capsule Collection. The limited-edition collection consists of JL’s most iconic styles reinterpreted in new and updated ways. Many also include hand-drawn logos to replicate Johan Lindeberg’s personal signature.

I had a closet full of Lachlans back in the day, so it is no surprise that my favorite piece in the ICONIC Collection is the KV Polo with the Bridge logo stretched across the upper back. Joining the KV is the Tour Tech Polo with a design that can best be described as business in the front and a party in the back. Both pair effortlessly with the Cesar Cardigan Vest, a design that brings me back to those fashion-forward JL sweaters of yesteryear.

Rounding out the collection is the Cason sweater with all-over branding, the Terry Hoodie, water-repellent Schoeller 3xDry trousers, the full-zip Wind Pro Jacket, and two styles of hats. And of course, what would an iconic JL collection be without a statement belt.
