Shinnecock is bringing out some of the best looks of the season. Between the coastal setting, classic architecture, and understated luxury that surrounds the property, players are leaning into more refined fits. Friday delivered plenty of strong looks, from Cashmere Keith’s pop-over and BillyHo’s coastal preppy fit to Mason Howell’s green trousers, and Jon Rahm’s palette of blues.

Fashion Dimes
Keith Mitchell (Sid Mashburn & FootJoy)
Easy, relaxed, and perfectly suited for a week in the Hamptons. The pop-over shirt continues to gain traction as golfers move toward softer tailoring and a more refined approach. Sitting somewhere between a dress shirt and a polo, the style features an extended placket and slips on overhead, hence the name. It delivers the sophistication of a woven shirt without feeling as formal as a traditional button-down. Nobody wears it better than Keith Mitchell.
Billy Horschel (Ralph Lauren & FootJoy)
Few brands feel more at home at Shinnecock than Ralph Lauren. Horschel tapped into the brand’s signature East Coast prep aesthetic with stone trousers, a blue striped shirt, and a color-blocked technical vest. Color-blocking isn’t dominating the conversation right now, but it’s quietly resurfacing after several years on the sidelines, and this was one of the better examples we’ve seen this season.
Mason Howell (Holderness & Bourne & FootJoy)
Friday belonged to the players who understood color, and Mason Howell put on a clinic. The white striped polo allowed the Harbor Green trousers to take center stage while tying seamlessly into the accents on his Todd Snyder x FootJoy Marquis shoes. A navy cap and the understated flex of an Augusta National needlepoint belt introduced a third color without competing for attention. Clean, balanced, and exceptionally well executed.
Wyndham Clark (Municipal & FootJoy)
FootJoy’s Premiere Series lineup has quietly become one of the biggest style stories of the week. Clark reached for the new Premiere Series Field in the Camo colorway, adding texture and just enough color to elevate an otherwise straightforward black-and-white look. Sometimes great styling comes down to the details.
Tommy Fleetwood
At this point, Tommy Fleetwood wearing Lululemon Daydrift pants is as predictable as a fairway finder. On Friday, he opted for the pleated version, continuing his streak as one of the strongest advocates for relaxed tailoring on the fairways.
Gary Woodland (Puma Golf)
A look worthy of a U.S. Open champion. Woodland borrowed a few of the best style cues from the ’90s, pairing rugby stripes with a two-tone cap for a fit that felt nostalgic without looking dated.
Jon Rahm (Greyson Clothiers & True Linkswear)
With Peconic Bay serving as Shinnecock’s backdrop, shades of blue have been everywhere this week. Few brands work with color as effectively as Greyson, and Rahm’s look was a perfect example. The micro-print polo added depth and texture while the layered blue palette felt right at home on Long Island.
Fashion Crimes
Viktor Hovland
This one hurts because I originally had it penciled in as a Fashion Dime when I saw Viktor’s scripting. The trousers immediately reminded me of the pants Jesper Parnevik used to wear, and Jesper made them look effortless. Unfortunately, the fit and tailoring never quite came together for Viktor. Sometimes a look that works on a golf fashion icon doesn’t translate to everyone. Then again, there’s a reason Parnevik remains one of the undisputed GOATs of golf style.
