Original Penguin: Seventy Years of Timeless Style

I once read that Ferris Bueller is the James Bond of adolescents; he’s seemingly able to do anything, self-assured, and always able to land on his feet, no matter how improbable the odds. One of my favorite quotes of all time is from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

What does Ferris Bueller have to do with golf fashion, let alone Original Penguin? Nothing and everything, of course. Each is timeless. Bueller had an “original” style that OP would respect. Original Penguin and Ferris are both fun. Furthermore, as I stop to look around at the golf fashion landscape, I realize it has been moving pretty fast recently. As I sit and ponder, it occurs to me that Original Penguin has been ahead of the curve for a while now. Lately, it feels like everyone is trying to do retro-inspired apparel that performs. So, let’s take a moment to celebrate seventy years of Original Penguin being the OG of timeless style and also have a peek at their 2025 Fall Golf Collection.

Penguins on TOUR

Did you know a group of penguins is most commonly called a “waddle” or a “colony”? Other terms include a “rookery” and “huddle.” Unless penguins are in the water, in which case they are called a “raft”! The waddle of brand ambassadors that Original Penguin has put together includes PGA TOUR winners Jake Knapp, Nico Echavarria, and Brian Campbell, alongside PGA TOUR players Max McGreevy and Mason Andersen, and Korn Ferry Tour member Johnny Keefer–an impressive presence to showcase Original Penguin’s timeless style at golf’s highest levels.

Fall 2025 Golf Collection

“For the Summer/Fall Collection, we wanted to tell a design story that was both nostalgic and forward-thinking. By merging the iconic looks of the past with cutting-edge performance features and globally inspired aesthetics, we’ve created a collection that feels sophisticated, relevant, and ready for today’s multi-sport consumer.”

While the Technical Earl Golf Polo and the Heritage Stripe Golf Polo are likely to appeal to the largest audience as they blend classic, retro, and modern in a way that shouldn’t work (but does), don’t sleep on the Original Penguin whimsical prints.

Some of my favorite playful polos are from the 70th Anniversary Collection. They just hit differently with their bold design and use of color, for when you want to stand out in the crowd.

I love apparel that makes me take a second look. Check out these unique polos with some pop.

From afar, the Pete’s Batik Cocktail Golf Polo appears to have a simple argyle pattern, but upon closer inspection, the diamonds house various cocktails for those of you who imbibe.

Legacy Golf Sweater Polo

Finally, when you want the appearance of a sweater vest over your polo without having to wear multiple layers, look no further than the Legacy Golf Sweater Polo. This elevated top is a blend of cotton and Coolmax polyester that offers comfort, stretch, and breathability. Wear this untucked for a casually cool, vintage-inspired look that won’t have anyone questioning your presence on the course. “Bueller…Bueller…Bueller….”
