Lululemon was founded over twenty-five years ago and was originally known for its women’s yoga apparel, most notably its yoga pants. However, in 2014 sensing a need for versatile performance menswear they launched a men’s line targeting the modern man, who values style, adaptability, and comfort. A few years later Lululemon introduced the Commission Pant which later evolved into the ABC Trouser (it stands for “anti-ball crushing”) and quickly became the hottest pants on the market. But unlike “parachute pants” and “Hammer pants” these were no fad.

Look Good and Feel Better
Lululemon created the ABC series, so you never have to choose between looking good and feeling good. With nonstop comfort and sharp style, ABC has grown into a range of essential silhouettes and ever-evolving technical fabrics. They offer two different styles: Live in your jeans? You’ll love the casual, classic jeans look of the ABC 5-Pocket Pant. Want a dressier style that wears like a chino? The ABC Trouser is all you need. Both come in three fits: Slim, Classic, and Relaxed; and five different fabrics (Warpstreme is the OG and the one I recommend).

Warpstreme is a stretchy, Japanese-loomed polyester blend that is the secret weapon. The fabric does not wrinkle, giving off clean lines that leave you looking crisp all day long. If you want to be even more dialed in, you can drop by your local Lululemon store to get your pants hemmed for free!

Often Imitated but Never Duplicated
I think it was Oscar Wilde who said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” Clearly Lululemon’s competitors were Wilde about the ABC Trousers because it feels like everyone started releasing a version. In fact, I remember six years ago while I was at the PGA Merchandise Show having multiple golf apparel brands highlighting performance pants and comparing them to Lululemon. Some commenting that theirs were made from the same material or in the same factory. Others laying claim to their pants being of higher quality but at a lower price. Although there are many good options on the market, the OG ABC still have a leg up on the competition.

Pants For Guys Who Golf
Recognizing that a large percentage of their male customers play golf, and that the ABC line of pants were receiving rave reviews by guys who were already wearing them on the course, Lululemon began to market its apparel specifically to golfers. Not only did they create a Golf Collection, Lululemon recently signed two of the most charismatic golfers on the PGA Tour: Min Woo Lee and Max Homa. These guys are known as much for their skills on the course as they are for their engaging social media presence, and both bring a style to the game that we at GolfThreads have long admired.
Lee and Homa may be the big dogs who get paid to wear Lululemon, but it is some of the lesser-known golfers who wear the ABC series without compensation that really speaks volume about the product. In the past few months, I have noticed Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Jackson Suber and Will Chandler wearing ABC slacks at PGA Tour events. And if you watch a Korn Ferry event, you’ll see Roger Sloan and countless others rocking Lululemon, too. Even last year’s Presidents Cup teams were quietly flexing their ABCs.
C-Bez (photo above) is a man after my own heart and prefers the ABC Trouser Warpstreme. Whereas Suber and Chandler (respectively below) regularly rock the ABC 5 Pocket Warpstreme.
ABC as Simple as 1, 2, 3
It is a simple choice when choosing my golf apparel to invest in. I don’t mind spending the money for quality but want it versatile enough to wear off the course. For that reason, I prefer the ABC Classic-Fit. They seamlessly transition from golf to work to a casual setting without a hassle. You won’t ever see me wearing apparel with a swoosh, three stripes, interlocking U & A, or a jumping cat anywhere other than the course or the gym. Lululemon’s minimal branding and quality works anywhere.

Reminder, we don’t get paid for these articles. We write about what we like, and writing about the ABC pants was as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Lululemon’s ABC pants truly redefine golf attire—style meets performance!
