Fashion Dimes

I think we’ve said all we need to say about BillyHo’s fashion acumen. He’s a class act. And one hell of a golfer. I have not been this invested in the outcome of a major in a long time.

It takes a lot to make rain gear stylish, and Malbon is doing just that. The hood, the pockets, the branding—thankfully these aren’t your dad’s boring waterproofs.

I’ve always wondered why more golf rain jackets don’t have hoods, like Greyson’s Chenoa II Jacket. I get that some guys don’t want to swing while wearing a hood, but you can flip it up and down between shots. So many players are already taking their jackets on and off between shots as it is. My guess is this was the major championship that changed golf rain gear forever. Expect to see more rain jackets with hoods in the future.

Matteo Manassero (Chervo & FootJoy)

The weather might’ve been drab but these Chervo trousers were dazzling. Like the smell of fresh laundry in a stale room.

Marcel Siem (Ralph Lauren & FootJoy)

The first word that came to mind when I saw Marcel Siem was “professorial.” I guess you could say that I thought this was a “smart” look.

Richard Mansell (adidas Golf)

I am obsessed with this “shacket” style anorak. The color is on point and I want it for the fall.

Dustin Johnson (Extracurricular & FootJoy)

In case you didn’t hear us the first time; nobody wears a tech vest as well as DJ.

Justin Thomas (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)

The pattern on JT’s shirt immediately drew my eyes to the beautiful basket-weave tweed on his shoes. Two thumbs up.

Adam Scott (Uniqlo & FootJoy)

When Adam Scott stays away from the washed-out earth tones, he kills it. Bonus points for the navy socks and Oakley’s.

Thorbjorn Olesen (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)

One of these days I will actually wear something from Greyson Clothiers. This, soon to be released, Fishing Lines Polo might be my first purchase.

Jordan Spieth (Under Armour)

I’m a big fan of the Marine OD Green colorway of the UA Drive 5 Pocket Pants combined with the texture of the UA Drive Pro Storm Hybrid Half-Zip.

Fashion Crimes

Three days. Three Crimes. We call that the “Matsuyama.”

Padraig Harrington

I am assessing Padraig two strokes: one for the white socks and one for the blue slacks/black shoe combination. Scratch that, make it three strokes for the blue slacks/white socks/black shoe atrocity.

In case you were wondering, the answer is, yes. Yes, you can wear too much white!

25 years from now, this vest will be considered retro and people will try to tell you it is cool. Just remember; it is a crime now and it will be a crime then.

  1. I’m sorry but for me the malbon gear is atrocious. JT looks awesome & I’m looking out for that adidas Shacket as well. Great reports this week.
