In a Fashion Dimes & Crimes first, a looper grabs our Look of the Day. Jason Day’s caddie, Luke Reardon, brought the vibes with this colorful cycling-inspired cap from Malbon’s soon-to-be-released Golf & Cycle Collection. The flipped-up brim brought back visions of Jesper Parnevik from a couple of decades ago. Extra points for the sleek Oakley shades, too.

FJ continues to crank out bangers with its limited-edition drops for the Majors. While collabs with Jon Buscemi and Todd Snyder have blended old-school and new-school feels, the Red Clay Premiere Series Wilcox that FJ created for the U.S. Open is all about the vintage vibes. Inspired by Pinehurst’s red clay hills, this is one beautiful shoe that marries a clay-colored outsole with a woven saddle and pebbled leather upper. Will’s nautical navy and white stripes were the perfect complement, and show how you can build a fit around your shoes.

Nike is no stranger to limited-edition kicks for the Majors, either, and this NRG release is the best of the bunch in 2024 with hits of Carolina blue, a number 2 on the heel, and a reminder to “accept and embrace” the good and bad breaks that the U.S. Open provides. Rory’s simple and solid fit really allowed the shoes to take center stage.

Dustin Johnson (Extracurricular & Jordan)

Speaking of Carolina blue, Dustin Johnson nailed every shade in Extracurricular’s Cloak Polo. The subtle hits of red and white are a tip of the cap to the U.S. Open and sync well with the red, white, and blue Jordan 1s.

Run, don’t walk to get a brown belt and shoes. I once declared the grey belt as the most versatile accessory in your golf wardrobe. Now I’m declaring the brown belt as the trendiest. Brown belts and shoes were extinct on the course for years, but as vintage ’80s and ’90s looks make a comeback, the best-dressed players are working them into their fits. Knowing how detail-oriented BillyHo is about making sure colors sync throughout his outfits, it is no surprise to see the brown tones on the belt and shoes match perfectly.

Sam Bennett (johnnie-O)

Yesterday, Michael shouted out Charles Reiter’s two-tone lid. Sam Bennett obviously took notes and rocked a similar design for round two. Another example of iconic ’80s retro styles making a comeback.

Greyson’s prints are works of art, and the Dark Floral Polo is the latest example of this. The all-over floral print complements Pinehurst’s landscape and natural grasses. The hidden wolf face in the Greyson print also speaks to the danger lurking at the number 2 course.

Bryson DeChambeau (Stitch Golf & FootJoy)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Bryson has found a fashion home with Stitch Golf. I’m not sure if there is some custom tailoring, but the fit of his polos is on point and the traditional stripes just seem to work for him.

Sam Burns & Chris Kirk (TravisMathew)

Sam Burns (Elderberry) and Chris Kirk (Earth Red) gave us two different flavors of TravisMathew’s Sea Journey Polo. I’m partial to the Elderberry colorway, so I’ll give the “Who Wore It Best” nod to Burns, but either way, this is a quintessential summer polo that plays as well on the course as it does in the backyard for a cookout.

Taylor Moore (B.Draddy & FootJoy)

Taylor Moore continues to show why less is more. There is nothing flashy about his traditional fits, but he proves that you can stand out with great color combos and exquisite tailoring.

I’m so grateful for the LIV uniforms, and no one wears them quite like Sergio. They are the comic relief we need during the intense pressure of the U.S. Open.

Hideki doing Hideki things. Someone take the white belts away from this guy.

  1. I am usually in agreement with you, however, I cannot agree about Sam Bennett’s hat. It looks like a give away from your print sales guy. Also, you criticized Neil Shipley (love him, he is from my home town) regarding white socks with black shoes. I agree 100%, now I see Billy H in mostly white shoes with dark socks and it looks okay. They match his pants whereas Shipley’s white matched nothing. How about a post about choosing socks? What are the rules?
