This Week in Golf Fashion: The Belt Edition

Taking It up a Notch

I. Love. Belts. They are by far my favorite accessory and the available options are limitless. But be careful; a belt can just as easily break an outfit as it can make it. Lately, I have found myself daydreaming of owning a luxury exotic skin belt from Patrick Gibbons Handmade, House of Fleming, or 59Belts.

Alas, as a golf blogger and public school educator, it is not in my budget. Instead, my closet is stocked with some of the fantastic braided, canvas, and needlepoint belts like those we’ve seen from Holderness & Bourne, Peter Millar, Vineyard Vines, and Smathers & Branson. In this week’s edition of TWIGF, I have decided to take things up a notch and focus on the best belts at The Honda Classic.

Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas might have the most impressive collection of exotic skin belts I have ever seen (mostly from House of Fleming and Ralph Lauren). Head to toe, if I could have access to one golfer’s wardrobe it would be JT’s.

Anirban Lahiri

Anirban Lahiri gave us a great tutorial on how to make your belt the centerpiece of an outfit. He wore two fairly pedestrian kits and jazzed them up with killer exotic leather belts. Kudos, Anirban.

Adam Scott

Adam Scott doing what he does better than anyone. He took a pair of Uniqlo khaki trousers and light pink polo and masterfully brought them together with a simple canvas belt. This is a clean, classy, and affordable look that transitions anywhere!

Matt Jones

At this point in time, everyone knows how I feel about white belts. However, shockingly, this works! Matt Jones’ white micro print polo by FootJoy transitions beautifully to his khaki pants as a result of the white textured belt. That’s right, I gave all the credit to the “white belt.” Just this once….

Roberto Castro

Another example of letting the belt do all the heavy lifting. Roberto Castro rode Holderness & Bourne’s award-winning Fischer Belt all the way to a mention in This Week in Golf Fashion. We know what that does for a players Q-Rating…

Chesson Hadley

This is not the first time I have shown the Peter Millar Kaleidoscope belt some love. And deservedly so! The splendor of this braided belt makes it one of my all-time favorites.

Trey Mullinax

As splendid as the braided belt was that Chesson Hadley wore, a needlepoint belt by Smathers & Branson is an impressive work of art and craftsmanship. This Vineyard Vines x Smathers & Branson Bass & Lures Needlepoint belt is a real catch.

Blayne Barber

Patrick Gibbons Handmade produces the finest exotic skin belts you can get your hands on. They also have a dope logo. High-five to Blayne Barber for adorning his belt with their righteous buckle.

Morgan Hoffmann & Brian Gay

Yes, yes, Morgan Hoffmann is wearing a sick strap which of course looks dynamite with his Greyson Montauk Joggers and Tala Polo. And Brian Gay is killing it in the G/FORE Killer T’s belt. But what is each guy wearing on his wrist?! Might we be seeing a new trend in men’s golf accessories? I like it…..
