Summer Blues
Way back in the spring, I was speaking with a representative for Peter Millar, and I had mentioned that I’ve never worn any of their gear. They responded that they needed to do something about that and sent me some samples from the Crown Crafted Collection. Shortly after I received the gear, I had a medical situation arise that put me and my golf game on the shelf for the summer. (Shoutout to Greg for doing ALL the work as I recovered). I am slowly getting back into the swing of things, and my first order of business was to step up and sheepishly admit that I have slept on one of the best brands in the biz all these years.

Clean and Classic
In the past, my go-to brands for elevated performance-wear have always been Ralph Lauren RLX and the johnnie-O Top Shelf Collection, for no other reason than familiarity. Peter Millar’s Crown Crafted Collection is in this class, and from a performance standpoint, might even eclipse them. Peter Millar is known for their timeless, clean, classic, and comfortable apparel. The Crown Crafted Collection has an exceptionally soft hand feel that transcends comfort and a luxurious aesthetic that keeps you looking polished and smart as you step from the course to the conference room.
Consider the Crown
How a brand positions itself in a particular market matters. Peter Millar’s “crown” epitomizes class, elegance, and respectability. One of my pet peeves is seeing grown men wear polo shirts out to dinner or to the office that moms typically dress their ten-year-old boys in for school picture day. Don’t do it. If your life requires you to transition from the course to the office without being able to change in between, or maybe you prefer to have just a few items versatile enough to wear in a variety of situations, consider investing in apparel that makes you look more like a “king” and less like a “kid.”
King of the Course
I finally returned to the course yesterday for nine holes, and although my game was a mixed bag, I looked like the “king of the course.” This time of year, in New England, the mornings can be cool, so I needed to dress for the occasion. I opted for the Tailored Fit Bingham Performance Five-Pocket Pant in Grey.
My polo du jour was the Cadenza Performance Jersey Polo in Pink. The Tailored Fit felt like it was custom-made to my exact specifications. No Goldilocks gripes from this guy. Everything was just right! And as a result of those aforementioned cool, brisk New England mornings, I layered with the sleek and lightweight Stealth Performance Quarter-Zip in Navy.
Crowns are considered the most iconic royal accessory. So, in order to really feel like the King of the Course, I couldn’t forget to top my dome with a Peter Millar logo lid! Finally, I never let my belt be an afterthought (nor should you). The Crafted Woven Belt is the perfect finishing touch to any look. It adjusts to size with a silver-toned buckle and is styled with a tonal suede loop and tip.
