Puma Evoknit: The Evolution of Golf Apparel

With so many golf polo options, I need a certain je ne sais quoi to titillate my jaded palate. The Puma Evoknit Seamless Golf Polo roused me from my polo slumber. Wear the Puma Evoknit and I guarantee you will instantly feel sexy! I did.

On an unusually humid October day in New England, I began by pairing the black (had more of a heathered black look to me) Evoknit Polo with the Evoknit V-Neck Golf Sweater (in Peacoat–pictured below on Rickie Fowler). I wore a large polo (I’m an athletic build, 6′ 190 lbs) and it fit perfectly. In fact, I would say it was slimmer than some other Puma shirts I’ve worn. The sleeves fell to mid-bicep, slightly hugging my arms and the shirt fit tighter than expected across the chest and shoulders. The engineered stretch construction made for an unrestricted range of motion and never made me feel like my swing was inhibited (In fact, I had a great day driving the ball. I attribute this to that “sexy” feeling. This must be how Rickie feels).

After my round, I raced downtown to a local watering hole to watch my beloved Red Sox eventually lose game two of the ALDS to the Astros. Normally, I would’ve changed my shirt (and maybe even showered) but time did not permit such luxuries. I was pleasantly surprised. After such a muggy afternoon, my polo did not elicit any unpleasant odors. Puma’s dryCELL technology is the real deal. Athletic, sporty and modern in its design, it transitioned well off the course. I never felt like I was wearing a “golf uniform” out to the bar. I felt hip and stylish.

My only (nitpicky) complaint about the Evoknit polo is the collar; it felt a tad small. Otherwise, two thumbs up!

The Evoknit V-Neck Golf Sweater was more traditional and conservative looking than the polo. The v-neck wasn’t too deep or too shallow and the sweater fell straight at the waist. Puma’s material choice felt of the highest quality and the “accordion” style elbows gave the sweater a bit of flair; the perfect melange of function and style. Compared to the polo, the sweater was less fitted and more in line with some of the past Puma gear I’ve worn. That was fine by me. I viewed this as more of a layering piece and the slightly roomier fit allowed for more functionality. This is another item that will transition well off the course and definitely be a go-to sweater for me. I am already thinking of pairing the Peacoat colorway with a light wash pair of jeans and a pair of canvas slip-on shoes. It will look DY-NO-MITE!

  1. I love how rickie can put something together in black gray and white and still look great. its the fit and style he puts together and makes it look great. Clothes hang on him well. Puma has always been at the forefront of apparel and rickie has really moved away from the super brights to trendy, refined taste.

  2. Rickie has come of age and it is AWESOME. PUMA Golf has evolved right along with him. I really loved the stuff I wore and reviewed. He and I have very different builds and I thought their stuff fit me perfectly.
