Webb Simpson brings American prep to The Open Championship

In the mid-1960’s, four guys from Liverpool were part of a British music invasion in the United States. Five decades later, Webb Simpson is invading Royal Liverpool with a suitcase filled with preppy, All-American apparel from IZOD Golf for the 2014 Open Championship.

There is a lot to like about Simpson’s script. It is essentially a checklist of everything that is hot right now in golf style.

• A red, white and blue colorstory? Check. Simpson will wear those colors through the championship.
• White pants? Check. They are everywhere on the fairways these days and Simpson will sport them for two days at Royal Liverpool.
• Button-down collar? Check. The collar on the Wine Country polo in Look 3 adds a touch of sophistication.
• Fancy pants? Check. The tight red and blue checks on the Midnight Plaid Pants in Look 2 are eye-catching, yet classy.

Let the preppy, American invasion begin.
